I like the tranquil mood at the beginning. The rhythm is a bit square, and some of the synths are a little generic. My main problem with the first ⅓ or so is that there’s very little sense of progression. It starts picking up at about the 1-minute mark, but for such a short piece it really needed more drive to give it some emotion and structural contrast. The piece has a drab sense of continuity, and doesn’t feel all that conclusive by the end. The composition is pretty underwhelming here, and really needs some stronger melodic content. I’d strongly encourage you to vary the rhythm of the piece more. It was cool that you kept switching between major and minor chords, but you need to consider variety along such parameters as dynamic contrast, changes in energy levels and melodic development. You have a good sense of harmony and flow, but there are a lot of compositional elements that I wanted to see showcased more here. Keep at it, BBoutillette. ;)
