I love the calming and bright mood at the beginning, and that evolves into the punchy guitar at :17. I think the drums could’ve been a bit more up-front in the mix, though. If simply raising the volume levels is problematic, I’d suggest trying some equalization and compression. By 1:18, the progression is really interesting - the mood is not quite as cute as in the beginning. At some point, I would’ve appreciated some structural variety because you go a long stretch without changing the instrumentation or energy level of the piece very much. The transition at 2:52 was also a bit awkward IMO. The big pitch slide was a good idea, but I think the pause at 2:56 ruined the flow for me. You certainly have a much more reserved texture and somber mood at 3:00, though. I liked the progression there a lot, as well as the transition at 4:07, which really set you up for the emotional height at 4:27. I think the pacing of the piece is a little fast for these final couple of minutes, though, as you change up the texture A LOT here (even though you didn’t do so very much at all during the first half of the piece). The ending also felt a bit rushed and inconclusive. You definitely took some compositional risks here, but for the most part I actually think they paid off. There’s a lot of emotion behind this piece, and that’s probably the most important compositional element a piece can have at the end of the day. Keep up the good work!

9/10
