We are fallen sinners in a fallen world. We disobey God and drag our conscience through the dirt as we deny Him over and over again. He created us from the dust of the Earth, yet we blaspheme and curse God unendingly in our obsession with sin and darkness. We are all on a path of self destruction and decay that leads to death and eternal burning in the Lake of Fire.

Who are we that God has been so merciful to us? Who are we that we are not consumed? Who are we that God would send His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born in the flesh and bear our sin on the cross at Calvary and rise from the dead on the third day that we might inherit eternal life?

We are His creation, originally made in His image, but we rebelled against Him. So why does He love us? It's not about who we are, but it's about who He is. God loves us because it's in His nature to love us. 1 John 4:8 says, "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." God is love and He loves us, because that's who He is.

When I sing, "Who are we to be loved by You?" it's more of a recognition of God's love for us despite our fallen nature than an actual question.

If you would like to know more about how you can be saved from sin and death by the blood of Jesus Christ, please PM me.

Lyrics:
Who am I that you'd provide for my needs?
You condescended down, down to meet me on the ground.

Who are we to be loved?
Who are we to be loved by You?

My righteousness is filthy rags. I'm not worthy.
You are so high, yet your love for me exceeds my love for you

Who are we to be loved?
Who are we to be loved by You?

DAWs used: FL Studio 11, Audacity
Instruments: electric/acoustic octave mandolin, my voice
Samples/soundfonts: All free and not copyrighted samples and soundfonts were used (most of which I got from threads here on NG)

!!!I have an important notice here!!!

For whatever reason, when I export this song as an MP3 file these sound fragments occur in the snare. Please forgive me for this as there is no perceivable way around this since I have to upload to NG for the contest. They are most notable at the section starting at 1:14

How do you mix those really slow vocals? Like "who are to be loved? Who are we to be loved by you"?

I am highly inspired. When I layer vocals, I turn usually just them into angry choirs mostly filled with echo. I hear some delay here instead. I also hear reversed echo, that preoccurs before the actual vocals. You got really nice techniques. This was a cool and clubby song to listen to..

Rahmemhotep responds:

Well, I EQ'd the crap out of them (Fruity Parametric EQ 2) and then compressed them a bit (Red 3 Compressor), after that I put Fruity Delay 2 on there, put in the settings I wanted and turned the knob in the mixer back to 50%, and finally I put Fruity Reverb on them using the 'Ambiance' preset, but then upping the reverb percentage to 19% and the dry percentage to 77%.

I didn't use any reversed reverb, though. You might be hearing one of my synths.

I'm actually having a really strange issue with that set of vocals where every time I open the project the low vocals are really quiet and they weren't that way when I had saved it and closed it before. Happens every time and I had to keep mixing their levels over and over again.

Just noticed you've done some metal songs. I used to be a metal musician myself >.>
