Force of Life

Hi!

This is my submission for both the A.I.M. & NGAUC of 2016.

It's a bit different from much of my (at least more orchestral based) stuff. Very directionless, simplistic and filled with aimless melodies.

I'm currently in Japan, so I didn't have that much time to work on this. The composition was inspired by dem0lecule's artwork:

I've always found these fractals to have a mysteriously wondrous quality to them. Now, at first glance, the pieces may not seem to have very much in common.

The piano was 100% improvised, right before I went on my trip. I didn't fix any mistakes either; just cut off the ending. My thinking was that I wanted to add something more around the fully free nature of the playing. The art piece gave me some nice, light ideas to improvise on and play around with.
The art and the music seem to have been created in similar ways; without much thought behind them. Just altering a few variations, or adding what first comes to mind.

Everyone makes billions of different choices in their lifetime; many of them fairly randomly, yet their impact can be most significant. I think an improvisation upon which more instrumentation is built later, represents that quite well. Our life force could be said do be the combination of all the small decisions we make every day.

Of course we get a loss of a carefully planned structure because of this. Also, it really bugs me that I didn't have time to do more. There is a lot that could be added, and the mix could be much improved. On the other hand, I get to experience the wonders of Japan once more, so I suppose I can't really complain :p

Either way, if I miraculously make it through to the next round of the NGAUC, I want to make something big >:)

As for the A.I.M. I don't have any real intention of competing, but I reaaaaally wanted to participate in it, as always <3

EDIT: I'm back from Japan now, and for those who are interested, I just uploaded a video of me playing this improvisation on the piano (recorded before I went on the trip, ofc):

That's all for now :3
Please enjoy this arbitrary piece ^ ^

Thank you! This is another one that isn't really a favourite of mine, but I'm glad you're liking some of my older works as well!

Exelent! This would work seamlessly in videos with a sad or thoughtful part.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, man! Glad to hear you enjoyed the listen :)

I hear a lot of themes from your other songs. Awesome :D

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Sure, maybe a bit! It's an improvisation to a large part, after all :)

Words cannot Express the greatness of this. I LOVE IT!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you love it ^ ^

Great work as always.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks Jay, as always :)
