[Edit: Thanks a ton for the frontpage! Much appreciated <3]

Well then...

Even if I'm pretty busy, I simply couldn't let myself miss another special theme day on Newgrounds. I definitely wanted to participate with at least something, so I kind of threw together this weird litte piece. I think I dare say it deviates quite a bit from the stuff I usually do, but I hope you're able to enjoy it anyway!

Good luck to all the other Robot Day contestants!

The cover art I used was made by Kamikaye. Show him some love <3

P.S. This track took me surprisingly long to make, even though it's so random and messy. I ran into some annoying technical difficulties during production too DX

I love that style! :)
Wonderfull work, you obviously have a very nice way to compose in many different styles. Awsome, as usual !

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a lot man! Glad to hear you like the track :D
I try to vary the styles I compose in a bit, especially if it's for a theme day like this. I think it's a good way to learn more about music making :)

The intro immediatly grabs your attention and although I’m not really a fan of dissonance, it really worked to set a tone this time. It made me expect something with a lot of energy, but instead a slow breakbeat follows with lots of acid and aliens synths. I like how you eventually brought the chords in. The vocoded synth at the end finishes the track really well, even though I hoped it would be a bit longer.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Man, I hoped you would've had the time to make something this year too, but maybe you're just tired of winning ^ ^
(I have a feeling you may secretly be the judge this year though, but shh!)

Thanks a lot for the review! I kinda did just a bit of what I wanted for this one, I suupose.
And while I tried, I couldn't really allow myself to go an entire piece without using any chords. I admit that this track is a tad short, mostly because I'm currently working on some other projcets :)

epic tune. Really love the harshness of the drums, theyre mixed so well it works. the chord progression is awesome and I love the strange sound you have panning left to right - I love how you finish the tune with just that sound. The tune is short but sweet - doesn't need to go on any longer and does not feel forced at all. my favourite bit is just after the drum break in the middle around 0:55 where the sine wavey synth thing walks up the scale.

Great job

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks man! It's great to hear you liked it, along with how I made the drums sound. At first, I wasn't sure what kind of a sound I wanted, so I settled for whatever this is xD
The chord progression is basically just Dm (Well, the intro has some effects too), and nothing more apart from a few notes that could belong to a C? That is, except for near the end, where the piano plays a simple progression.

Cool that you noticed the panning effects/sounds! It's actually one of the presets from Firebird 2 (which is free nowadays); I noticed that if you hold in the notes, and have multiple octaves play them, they keep on making weird noises. So I kinda just rolled with it, and made them a bit more silent and panned them, in order to make something happen in the background :'D

I'm really stoked to hear it doesn't sound forced to you! That is one of the things I was worrying the most about.
I'm also glad you like those two synth sounds blended together, after 0:55. I was afraid it would come across weirdly in the mix!

You really eased my mind on a couple of things here, thanks a ton! :3

Haven't heard from you in awhile. I like it.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you :3
Glag you like it :'D

The percussion is what does it for me. They really immerse me into the track. I see a tired robot sitting down amongst his rusting people of the past, giving up on existence and shutting down forever. Really great job with this track! You should explore this experimental side of you some more :D

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you :3
It's cool to hear that you like the percussion, even if I'm sure it could be more prominent/balanced differently in the track, at least mixwise :p
That's an interesting interpretation, which fits quite well :D
I do explore my experimental side every now and then, when I get time and inspiration, so I will definitely do so more in the future too :)
