Remake of my 2012 song Wtfepic Battle.

I wanted to create an epic song that sounded like an ultimate fight between light and darkness as can be heard as final boss fight in a video game, or an end battle in a film. At the time I used the best sounds and mixing techniques I had at my disposal. It sounded far from perfect though, and although my sound library and skills still are not as good as many composers here I still thought it worth it to remake this song to be on par with my current standards. It is a large improvement I think.

I nearly replaced every instrument in here except for the woodwinds (though I changed the settings of those too). And I've replaced most of the effect devices as well.

The entire song was made in Propellerhead Reason 8. I've used lot's of plugins and refills for this version. Most notable are:

Instrumets (ReFills):
Zampled - Euphonic Strings
Softphonics - EmbouchuRe - Stunning Brass Instruments
Soundiron - Olympus Micro (choir)
FineTexture - Harp
Impact Soundworks - Shreddage (guitar)
Impact Soundworks - Shreddage Bass
Nucleus Soundlab - BFD Core (drums)

Effects (Rack Extentions)
Kuassa - Amplifikation Creme Guitar Amp
Kuassa - Cerberus Bass Amp
That Music Company - Distortion Chain
Sputnik Audio - SP-2 Siberian Halls (impulse response reverb)
Softube - TSAR-1 Reverb (studio reverb)
Softube - Valley People Dyna-Mite (compression/limiter and such)
Softube - FET Compressor
Softube - Saturation Knob
Propellerhead - Audiomatic Retro Transformer (automatic lo-fi)

Also note this song has the same composition as my earlier song 8-bit Genesis:

But with different instruments to give it a different mood.

Please contact me if you like a loopable version of this song.

I like a lot the composition, and instrumentation, despite being a short piece it feels complete.
The transitions between the different parts are smooth, and good overall mix.
The comp/limiter (I'm guessing) feels a bit too aggressive on the lows.
I like that roll and "rallentando" at the end, but I think the final hit fall short after the tension and epic vibe of this piece, but it's not a big deal. Solid work.

Thanks. Glad you like it. It's indeed rather compressed in the lows. Sometimes I think it's too much, at other times I think it gives the song a little more boost. In any case it was really difficult to mix it with all these instruments at the same time, and compressing the lows was a way to cranck up the overal volume, which I felt was necessary because I want this song to be at a climactic part of my demo album. The hit at the end is a little anticlimactic perhaps. You can also loop the song by having it start on the hit. I think that works quite well.
