This one was inspired by various different artists' songs and by ideas I had in my head for months. I spent awhile making this, as usual. I did a lot of work. From start to finish this was like 3-4 weeks, maybe some more time even. I downloaded a couple free effect VSTs so I could master better easier, and I'll list the names and links to download them:

TDR Nova by Tokyo Dawn Labs (Dynamic EQ): http://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-nova/

Limiter No. 6 by VladG Sound (Limiter, Compressor, Clipper, and Anti-Clipper all in one): https://vladgsound.wordpress.com/downloads/

People who aren't very experienced with producing music, the following info is quite technical and may not be understood.

For the pumping sound towards the beginning, I found that a sidechain compressor was too difficult to use in this situation, so I made a different track with the amplitude envelope changed. The big saws are heavily-tweaked versions of the one from "Don't Guide Us". I used an exciter with the scope constantly being modulated by an LFO.

I made all sounds myself, and I used LMMS and Audacity.

I hope I do well on the rest of my finals!

=== This is an NGAUC Audition Round Review ===

Uplifting techno! I can definitely tell that you put a lot of work into this one. I like the uplifting chord progression quite a bit. The song has quite a bit of variance to it, though I'm kind of surprised that you never tossed in a gigantic buildup, knowing that that's pretty much all that the genre's about ;-) One big problem with this is that very often the mix feels empty. There is quite a bit of space for a bassline, panned hihats, or other small details that flesh out the mix. The sound design needs a bit more work here, too - some of the sounds don't fit well together.

Mini-scores (See http://johnfn.newgrounds.com/news/post/936953 for what this means and how to improve)
Mixing: 2/4
Arrangement: 3/4
Composition: 3/4
Overall (this is not an average): 7/10

I think those are problems with many of my past songs. You give some good ideas for how my song could be better. One of the things I think I sound designed wrong is the kick and maybe the lead in the middle of the song because it sounds somewhat mono.

But thanks for the review, I really appreciate it. I hope I do well in the KO round.

I can definitely hear your technical expertise. very well done
Good luck in the contest. I may take your riffs.
I'll pm you bro

BeeFef responds:

I still have quite a bit to learn, actually. Already, though, I'm seeing that my music is giving other people music ideas, and that makes me happy.

I hope I do well in the contest, and you too!
