Am I the only one who wouldn't mind having this playing in the dark? To me, it's not so eerie that I think something might lunge out at me, but I see the classic vampire hunter seeking an agile vampire, with the Dracula look, in a vast and empty church at the dead of night.
The hunter carries pistols of silver bullets, an ashy brown overcoat and hat, wooden stakes armed around his belt, and a silver necklace with the symbol of Christ hanging loosely on his neck. Of course, the vampire throws a sudden attack at the hunter, leaping from the hidden darkness. The hunter closely manages to dodge the assault and pulls out twin pistols as the vampire dashes upon the side of the wall. Aiming by instinct, silver bullets rain upon vampire's trail, just slightly off target. A bullet crashes to a gas lantern, and soon, half the room is enveloped in flames.
The hunter notices a holy statue in the sea of hungry flames, and momentarily experiences a flashback of his past: A burning chapel, his father carrying his son towards what remained of the doorway, just before getting knocked down. The father is the victim of a vampire as the son manages to escape, scarred by the horrors.
Regaining his focus, the hunter frantically searches for the vampire. A mass collides with the hunter from the sky, and the hunter saw himself struggling face-to-face with the vampire. He recognizes the face just as the vampire lunges at the hunter's throat. But seeing the silver cross upon the hunter's chest, he felt his strength drain and stall his killing strike. Realizing this, the hunter fires a silver bullet into the vampire's side. The vampire screams in pain and leaps off the hunter. The hunter rolled to his side and stood, holding his twin pistols once more. But his prey was no where to be seen in the little remains of the burning church. His father's killer escaped.
Woah. Sorry if this is a bit long, but when you start a story, you have to finish it. I may have gotten carried away typing this, but I tried to make it fit the piece as best as I can. This piece was vicious , yet still maintained that sense of a well-organized style. Hope you create more like these so I can add more 5 page reviews!
