Wack That Schmuck

Hello and welcome to week 15 of sumirs3cjams! this week I've got a rock-ish track (don't know the best genre to categorize this piece) that builds up as time rolls along. The song portrays the account of Jimmy SlickFingers being accused of snitching to the feds about the mafia's money laundering operations. Whether Jimmy gets beaten down by Big Bertoli or buried alive in concrete is up to your interpretation. Dissonant tones based entirely around the HW octatonic scale with fuzzy distortion. Hope to see you for next week's entry.

'Don't let that schmuck escape, listen to me Tony, fail this and u're the schuck!''

I'm liking the idea!

Definitely getting a whiff of that wacky atmosphere here. :) In my vision, Jimmy makes a run for it, leaping across construction site girders in a desperate attempt to get away, yet ultimately getting shit in the shoulder and plummeting to his inescapable death four hundred feet below... but what happened to the body? The ground lies barren and dry below, and Jimmy is nowhere to be found.

Interesting how the addition of a backstory changes the way you perceive the track, and I love that build-up towards the end, letting this play like a movie in my mind made for a pretty exciting finale at that point! Nice work, and an interestingly grungy style of sound this time around.

lol @ that typo. Nice scenario! It's better than a story that I was trying to write out. Thanks for the review! Glad you like the buildup.

Your harmony doesn't meld well with the melody. I'm not sure if thats what you wanted but they don't work very well together.

S3C responds:

That's the nature of the HW octatonic scale! The sound is a bit jarring and since it's an equidistant system there really is no harmony in the conventional sense. But thanks for the honest review!
