that song near the end of the game that i always loved..

*EDIT* this song has been 2009 remastered to sound as it should have in 2004 had I had the skills then that I have now :) - enjoy!

and yes the size is massive and I don't feel like VBRing it down - its like 400 kbps - you want it smaller - either chop it up or vbr it yourself :P

I JUST finished playing the FFIV remake on the DS about a week ago, so this song is very fresh in my mind. As always, I love how much you have going on, that's something other artists fail at. You have the main melody, you have background percussion, a bit of ambiance, and more, it just keeps going. The longer you listen to your music, the more layers you find hidden in the background, toss on some headphones and there's even more, it's great.

Anyway, awesome use of instruments, great balance on the sounds, nothing feels too loud or too in the background, from what I've actually been able to spot that is, seeing as there's probably 20 layers I haven't heard yet. As always, great work, great song selection and definitely getting downlaoded and tossed into my VG music folder, keep it up.

Author's Response:

yup - thats one thing I am known for - layering! Gotta have as much going on in there as possible without making it cluttered :)

I also have 3 main melodies - all overlapped - there is the crystal - the trumpet, and the string :)

I also make all my stuff on headphones - I listen with speakers ater to make sure the eq is right and then do any additional mastering then to compensate for that - once it sounds good on both its ready to go!

I'll keep making stuff :)

thanks for the review!

I really like the instrument choices here. It's epic and fun to listen to. Great detail within the song as well!

Keep it up!

Author's Response:

ya I like to use my post production skills to give my songs a lot of dimension - for example the lead has both crystal and trumpet - and you can hear them both simultaneously without either interfering :)

I know the song your talking about.

I can't exactly remember how the song goes completely. But it was enough of a remastered version that I could still tell it was that actual song from Final fantasy IV, Which means you did what you should do in a remastered song.

Which is basically to stick to the song. Obviously throw something new in with it, And clear it up, And fix mostly anything and everything you can with the song. You accomplished that pretty well, As usual with what you submit.

No issues with the song really. You obviously put some effort in.
I like that :)

Author's Response:

yup - its better htan the old vrsion that peaked and stuff - and I pretty much kept the original instruments as well while adding some extra and giving it an overall master - so if you concentrate you can hear the trumpet, which the original song had - and the crystal lead - which MY version originally had - at the same time - but not interfering with each other :)

the harp was the hardest part - I didn't want the song to feel too cluttered..

glad you liked the effort that went into it :)
