This is easily one of my most favorite title themes, and the reason this is my first upload for 2016 is this is going to be treated as the "Main Menu" theme for Border of Fate 2016. It's also to showcase my synth instruments. I also wondered what this song would sound like if modern instrumentation was used, so I didn't really feel like playing around with its composition. That creative process is reserved for a different song that will be appearing sometime this week.

I feel the timbre of this particular remaster is rather soft and dreamlike, or wondrous, if not slightly haunting. Hence the name "The Wondrous Mystic Square". Mystic Square also holds a special place in my heart Touhou-wise; I feel it was the best PC-98 Touhou game, bar none. If not this game, Lotus Land Story is an extremely close second. Lotus Land Story and Mystic Square remain, in my honest opinion, the two darkest Touhou games ever created.

2016 is the perfect time to showcase how far I've come in terms of a musician. This is probably going to be the year I also feel ready to go all out and start making original songs on the side. I've been taking Music Theory throughout High School and I've begun to understand what makes a good song GOOD. Comparing my beginnings to now... It blows my mind how much I've grown. I've learned so much and it's thanks to the Newgrounds community giving me advice and tips on how to improve my craft. Newgrounds is basically the longest practice session for creating music I've ever had the pleasure of doing.
