If you want to see a video of me playing another, much darker improvisation on a real piano, check this out:

By clicking the link, you will actually just open the video in this description; try it!

I haven't really had time to do much productive stuff at all lately, so sorry if I've been a bit inactive! I haven't had time to finish the track I'm working on, nor compose much other new things. But I have had time to improvise, and you can hear the result of one of those improvs here :D

The reason is of course, the fact that I am a student in a University, and they seem to like keeping me busy... I am currently working on a long exam that I'm writing from home. I have to read 5 books for it :S
That other, darker improvisation is directly inspired by the stress that such tasks cause me to feel :p

To be fair, this improv is based around a few chords/progressions I came up with just before recording. It's nothing new, nor very original (some parts may even remind you of other pieces). The main chords are actually somewhat similar to what I and dem0 used for the main sections of "Threnody For Innocence", but the moods are quite different.

This was actually recorded on my synth, and not my digital piano. Since it doesn't have as good a sound, I took the MIDI file and assigned it to Piano One. But the MIDI file from the synth, and Piano One don't always agree on dynamics, which resulted in a bit of a weird sound for this one (some very soft keys, etc.).
I think you'll live :)

As I did premeditate some of the chords, you can probably notice that this is much cleaner than most of my longer improvisations. I tried to keep it revolved around a similar theme, for most of it.
Even if this is not the best, nor the most original of my work, I hope you're still able to enjoy it :D

I hope you'll have a great week ;)

A bit late to the show, but I really did enjoy this piece. You definitely have a skill for this sort of thing if you're improvising any part of such art. Keep up the great stuff!

This is fucking amazing!!!!!!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a lot, mate! I appreciate it :D

That... is improvised?... That is amazing, i love it! although i love most piano/keyboard play, this is some of the BEST! improvised i have ever had the honor of listening to. I play the Pia... Well, i want to play the piano myself, but i only have a cheap keyboard. If i could aford it, i would instantly buy a good piano and play. But as said, i am a big fan of piano play, and you are great at playing it! Please do make more "improvising" it sounds amazing. Also, a good thing i love about a piano is that it's one of the instruments in the World that Express peoples feelings best. As Tom Lehrer once said "Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it"

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

This is improvised indeed :)
But as I wrote in the description, I decided many of the chords before recording, and tried to keep the theme relatively similar all the way through. Thanks a lot for the encouraging words!

Instruments are very expensive indeed. If you want to play the piano though, I'd say that it is easily a worthwhile investment to buy yourself something you can be happy with, and enjoy using regularly. The cheapest keyboard with a full set of 88 "hammer" keys I know, that has a relatively good quality, is the Thomann SP-5500. If you are interested, you can check it out here: http://www.thomann.de/dk/thomann_sp5500.htm

Now, it is not as good as a yamaha digital piano would be, but I assure you that it would give you a great start and you can keep using it to play all kinds of songs, for years upon years. Of course, you would also need to buy something to put the keyboard on, unless you have a table (examplewise: http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_ks2010.htm). Together, it's a bit above 3000 DKK, which may sound like a lot. But if you are passionate about music, I recommend that you go for something, whenever you get the chance, so that you can play the pieces that you love, or create compositions of your own :)

As you said, life is like a piano. So why not get one, so you can have not one life, but two? ;)

(No pressure, of course. I just figured you might be interested and maybe want a tip or two :p)

Outstanding LSD, out-fucking-standing!! :)
This is one of the best solo instrument tracks I've ever had the pleasure to listen. The melody is so good all the time. Just a question: did you recorded this via MIDI or you composed it directly on the pc with some VSTs?

Keep up the good work man! Best wishes! :)

.:FRICTIONAL:.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Why thank you, Frictional!
I'm glad to hear that, as the melody is all imprivosed. I played it directly, of course, as otherwise, it would not be an improvisation :p
I just recorded the midi fle though, and the sound that plays this is a piano vst called Piano One. I could've just exported my keyboard's sound directly, but that wouldn't sound as good, which is why I did it this way.

Thanks for the review ;)

Very nice!!! I like the mood...
This music made me feel happy :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Glad to hear that my music made you happy :)
Thanks for listening!
