Update 12/31/15: Happy New Years! Just updating to let you know that the kick being too loud in the intro is now fixed. It was something that was supposed to be done in the first render that slipped my mind due to fatigue making that kick sound balanced as it was high passed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
After working on this since FL 12's release, Hyperresonance is finally complete and I've decided to release it as a free download!

Went back to my older style for this one, sticking to the grittier synths and my more unique style of trance. This track features my signature z3ta synths as well as a gritty bass I made with FL's Patcher, Sytrus and a whole boatload of distortion.

I hope you guys enjoy! I had a blast making this and playing through the game that inspired this track, Tales of the Abyss.

Hey DM! I like the cool echo effects at the beginning. Like a lot of your songs, it's catchy and climactic but progresses pretty slowly, especially during the first minute or so. The kick at :59 was a little high-pitched, loud, and distracting IMO. I like the bass at 1:27 a lot, and the arpeggios you have playing over it work really well harmonically. I also liked the start-stop method of winding down from an emotional height you used starting at around 2:25. The build-up at 3:36 is really powerful. I think this piece is very well-structured and smooth-flowing overall. The mixing and mastering is solid, and despite its being a little hard-hitting at times, the emotional quality comes through well. I like the filtering at around 5:20 onwards, and the very end would make a great loop. I think this is one of your better tracks overall. Keep up the good work, DM! ^_^

Dylnmatrix responds:

Hey man, thanks for the review. As of me writing this reply, the high passed kick is now fixed in the intro and the track is updated. Hopefully that makes it better.

The hard hitting mix and hot master was purposeful. I wanted to make something that had punch to it but kept my emotional quality coming through and used many, many, many references to get things right. This track was the most intensive in that area for me, so I'm glad to know my intentions were realized.

The track hasn't changed much since that preview I uploaded. I only added to it, adding additional FX, drums and obviously fixing the mixing. The only big change was the second build I added in the middle of the last drop to build that final bit of tension that was extremely necessary. I'm very proud of the second build as the fill that transitions the drop melody is actually out of tempo. I used a 140 bpm fill as my base and lined the snares up with it to give it more power.

I'm glad you think this is one of my better tracks overall, as I do too. I feel like I've mastered a lot of things, but still have a long way to go in the realms of creativity. Hopefully this track I'm working on now can be even better if I can get it going.

I definitely dig the echo on the intro riff, It's really active but it's not jarring at the start of the song since it's kind of muffled. The first percussion instrument, that comes in at around 0:57, is a little loud, especially compared to the kick that comes in around there. It takes a lot of attention away from the other instruments in the song. Other than that, there's a ton of variety and it all flows really smoothly together, and you make really good use of the wah-like effect. The beat also changes up frequently enough to keep things pretty interesting along with the new riffs.

4.5/5 stars, but only because of the level of that first percussion instrument. I'd give it a 4.75 if i could because it's not that big of a deal but it definitely detracted from the intro in my opinion.

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks for the review! I agree that the hi-passed kick at the beginning is a bit loud. When it came to releasing the track when I did, I meant to actually automate the volume of the kick so it wasn't so loud, but completely forgot before rendering ^^;

Other than that I'm glad you liked the track!

This is among the best pieces I have heard all year - Newgrounds, professional, or otherwise. I've been following you since I heard Unsustainable, and I haven't been the least bit disappointed. The layering is incredible. The progression is perfect. The arps are well done and well implemented. The percussion always complements the melody well. There's so much going on in every one of your pieces that I have to listen two or three times to catch everything.

This is a phenomenal piece. I would give it more stars if I could.

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really happy you liked it!

Good!! :)

Dylnmatrix responds:

Glad you like it :)
