I really like this song. There, I said it. In any case, I love the atmosphere you went for here with the instrument selection. Very much a water/ice sound to it. Reminds me the old Sonic games on the Genesis.

Your percussion really makes the song, though. Greaaat selection of percussion samples!

When that chord playing synth comes in around 1:00 with the timbre modulation on it, I was impressed with the specific modulation you did to it. Very nice sound. Good to hear something tyhat is a bit different from other house songs on NG.

Your mix is good. I might put in a slight more hard panning in there, but it's your song.

One of things I thought this song needed was some more complex lead melodies. It's a little stale halfway through especially considering the length of the song. That's not to say the song itself is stale halfway through, but the melodies being presented are stale halfway through.

I think this is a good song to chill out to and I find it generally enjoyable.

MaxPoly responds:

I intend to focus on melody a bit more in my newer tracks, since that seems to be a common criticism.

Thanks for the review!

It' petty good, I kinda dont like the bell-like effect on about 5:30, bat the bass is really chilly and overall it 4/5.
Good Job!

Thanks!

So here it is my first time listening to this track, and halfway through, I fell in love with it. It's so easy to just chill to and ponder about random stuff with. It's great how lengthy the song is so that you can thoroughly enjoy a good dose of the vibes coming from it. Oh hey look, just a quarter in and it somehow found its way into my downloads. Neat track.

MaxPoly responds:

Thanks man, appreciate it!

Refreshing!
Really nice synth textures! Love the distorted chords that filter in every strike. Great plucky sounds too.
Haven't heard something I've really liked on NG thus far, but this makes it. The music is also pretty nice, reminds me of Caribou's "Can't Do Without You."
Your percussion is also good! Nice whooshing sounds and fill textures. The ONLY thing that had me iffy was the dubstep-ish snare hit that would lead into your heavier sections, you know, the one-hit fill. I think you could get away with something a little more complicated, a-la Jon Hopkins' remix of Wild Beasts' "Two Dancers,"- the break that he has before the climax (this is me being nit-picky).
Really great work, definitely going to follow you from now on.

Cheers!

MaxPoly responds:

I figured it would be kind of okay to use the one-hit fill if it wasn't used every 4th beat. It's not something I plan to do very often :P

I'll take a look at your listening suggestion!

Nice and clean mix. Gets a little bit too loud at certain points. If I'm finding myself turning down my speakers mid-song then there's a slight problem with the volume. I'm digging the counter-melodies at 1:20. Really gives the extra atmosphere to the song. I usually don't enjoy this type of music. But this is some damn good, environmentally friendly house music. Nice job on your part. You know what would complete this honestly? Some good choir chord progressions.

MaxPoly responds:

Noted. Looking at the waveform on soundcloud, the breakdowns are unusually quiet for a house track.
