Found this old thing, added a bit more variety to it. I thought I'd lost the finished version of this song forever ago, had to replace missing samples and vsts.

Pretty experimental but people liked the old version.

I'm not really a fan of trance/techno...but just something about this melody screams at me...
Albote's pointers were almost "spot on"...but what I didn't understand is what was so wrong with the intro and the variations that you DID use...

To be perfectly honest, the piece flows and the "distortions and randomness" that you took with this, is quite flashy and fancy enough to get a 5/5 outta me :-)

Daydream-Anatomy responds:

Thanks, glad you liked the bells and whistles on it, appreciate it.

Sounds great! I hope you continue with your music! Make sure to keep up the good work for me. ;) Oh, and btw, what program are you using? I might start making my own music. But I have no idea which program so start using, for a beginner. But anyways if you could reply to this, thanks, and once again, great work on this!

Daydream-Anatomy responds:

I use FL studio, I find it to be the easiest and it's my favorite DAW.

Thanks for the comment^^

This song is pretty good overall, but there are a few things that stand out. A lot of this is negative, and highly opinionated, so apologies in advance.

The glitchy effects in this song are pretty interesting. They do sound out of place in a few parts, though. It's a bit hard to explain. One thing I disliked was the way that the synth introduced at 0:30 is an octave higher in the right ear. It's a creative idea, but painful to listen to. Another thing I didn't like was how the bass sound comes in at 1:03 and 2:33 - too loud, too sudden. Your drums are mostly okay, except for the snare which sounds a little weak.

The overall melodies and stuff are, for the most part, pretty unremarkable. It's decent, but only decent. It might be a good idea for you to prioritise learning about music theory.

The overall structure of the song is good. The intro is pretty solid, but I thought the ending was slightly lacking because it sounds like someone is hitting the piano keys rather than gently playing them, if you get what I mean. The resulting sound is slightly unnatural. The piano is nice throughout the rest of the song though, especially at 2:25.

Putting all the negativity aside, I think you have some good ideas going on. I also get the impression that you put a lot of effort into making this song. How much time did you spend on it?

Daydream-Anatomy responds:

Total time, maybe 6-10 hours, it's been something I've been toying around with for over half a year so it's hard to put an number on it.

but thank you very much for taking the time to critique it, I'll take all that into consideration in the final mix/master, appreciate it.
