This is a chord progression I'd been playing around with for a while. There's something about this particular progression and ones like it that i just love, I know I'm not the first to use it but I had to write something to it. It's just so tasty happy sad. I encourage people to find their own meaning in my lyrics, but to me they're about the anxiety one feels after solving a problem when you aren't sure if the solution is any better.

Lyrics:

Somewhere deep in California
deep beneath conformist propaganda
Deep beneath the bone dry desert sands of
time and lies
We've lost the plot to every story
lost our line to morning glory
no way back, nowhere to move forward

But cold nights by your side awaken
terrible hopes things will change
Terrible fears that this is what I fought for all those years i strained

Happy thoughts and memories keep me sane through all the shitfaced nights
I cried myself to sleep

Keep me close and warm because I don’t think I can keep on-

Somewhere deep in California
deep beneath conformist propaganda
deep beneath the bone dry desert sands, My restless body lies

I don't find your voice to be particularly that great, but i enjoy the general sound and appreciate this to no end. You wrote the lyrics for this? maybe post the lyrics? Just a suggestion because I'd like to read them.

IndustryStandard responds:

Yeah as much as I love rock and pop and all kinds of genres, my voice tends to seem out of place in anything other than country or blues, neither of which do i have much interest in writing. That and I can't quite hit the low notes in the song, but I'm fairly new to singing so i tend to write melodies that are a little out of my range one way or the other. I'll post the lyrics in the song description as soon as I'm done with this reply!
