30-seconds of wacky sounds, so give it a minute before you decide to keep listening or not. That's all I'd ever ask of anybody. Just gimme a minute. This song was recorded, self-produced, self-published, and copyrighted 2010 by me. I play guitar, do all the vocals, program the drum sounds and synths, and mix everything together. I need to re-record this anew with a real bass guitar, like my newer tracks.

Ironically, I'm currently unemployed.

"Hotel NJ"

this whole story has been done before, for sure
we hit this apex and decline, in due time
and so we live a slave life
successive degenerations of lackadaisical swine singing…

I work in hell but at least it pays well

if it‟s a meteor that kills us all
you know I‟d like to see it fall
and smile and facepalm at the futility of it all
because half of my life has already passed me by
if not all of it – I would die right now to prove it
but instead I think I‟ll just live on
and have a paycheck to show for it

BECAUSE I work in hell but at least it pays well
and I live in the depths of hell
but at least I‟m still fed well

here in hell I will do what the boss says
cuz I love it here and you‟re the best
those other shitholes can kiss my ass

and so I work, all day long, and all night long
all day long, all life long
yay overtime / I work in hell but at least it pays well
and I live - in the depths of hell
but at least I'm still fed well
and I work every day and all night long
and I‟m lucky that it pays at all

Imo, probably one of your best songs (definitely up there with 'Waiting To Die' and 'Terra Angelica')!

Wow thank you so much :) I'd like to re-record this and so much else. This maybe a little faster and cleaner, and it'd be better. Thanks for listening and keeping in touch!

Pretty cool vocals with a sick guitar and drums, the beginning and ending before you started singing was maybe a bit too much but i'm sure you had your reasons to do it.
Good job, i'm downloading this song.

Gunshy responds:

Thanks for the stars and the download! :) And yes, this version of the song from my archives was from the whole album of stuff, with some soundscapes kind of running together. I didn't really know I was making a concept album, but I did. I try to create a tableau of consumerism at the very beginning, with shopping carts, cash registers, and little digitized drops of rain, perhaps heralding a flood. It's crazy, I know. But that's what it is. I think if I re-record it I'll drop the tableau and just get on with it ;)

Really like the demo and it would sound bad-ass re-recorded with a real bass.

Gunshy responds:

I agree! There are a few things I'd do differently playing it live (or sampled live clips) than I do with programming a bass synth, and for better or worse, it would at least sound a little funkier, hopefully. Thanks for the stars and review! Download and share if you can :)
