Happy Pico Day 2015, yer blokes!

This is my entry for the music. I doubt I'll win but WHO CARE! The piece is my honest interpretation of Castle Crashers. I view the game as epic, heroic and serious medieval. Not the light hearted animation. I always cross my thoughts of Castle Crashers with Skyrim or Witcher games.

Each part in the piece is represented the 4 knights.

0:00 to 0:33 - Green Knight
0:33 to 1:43 - Red Knight
1:43 to 2:49 - Yellow Knight
2:49 to End - Blue Knight

Worked on this song from 10:00 PM last night til 6:00 AM this morning... 8 hrs non stop.

Enjoy! Grrrgg, time to hit the bed...

Edit. Holy shit, I won 2nd place. Thank you all for your tremendous support, gals & guys!

Man you've been quite busy lately... which is good, but I haven't been able to keep up. Your inspirations for this piece is interesting because I totally hear your own voice in this work.
I wonder how you would describe MaestroRage and DavidOrr's music and thus it being the focus of your goal.
No matter, I enjoy this one regardless of sounding like it could've been written by another, because it has more of your own writing. It isn't as rhythmically interesting and fun to listen to as your Evening Cafe and Samurai Rising (which I enjoy because of that fact) but this does have a story-telling element and atmosphere for what you're going for. You use your libraries tastefully that keep me interested throughout. And I don't mind the transition, or lack thereof, because of the how sounds are put together, timbrely speaking, that allows it not to have any jarring effects as I listen.

Hello Phonometrologist! First, I would like to thank you for your review!

The structure of this piece was based on MaestroRage 2007 track "Newgrounds Spectrum", and the brass arrangement was also based on DavidOrr "Four Brave Champions". There were also some influences from other great orchestra composers on NG.

Evening Cafe and Samurai Rising are strange approaches to the ordinary style I usually follow. This track is also quite different from what I made previously. And I'm glad I've broken the comfort bubble, even it was quite clumsy.

Thank you very much again for your helpful review! :)

A fitting piece, abit too strong in certain points for the Castle Crashers feel but regardless the instrumentation is top notch as always!

The rolling strings are awesome, the Medievil-esq instruments used sound spot on along with your percussion and as always the brass and woodwind work is top notch as well.

1:30 up until 1:42 felt a little over cluttered or not quite mixed that well as I could hear some crunchy overlay over it making it hard to tell if it's clipping or similar instrumentation laying flat in the mix. As FD mentioned below, transitions would of been nice but I think with a little bit of smoothing over the whole master you could get away with not using them and just making the sound of the chance less punchy and have it smoother instead in a future revision of this piece.

But yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I really need to keep up and listen to your releases when they come out straight away, my apologies for not reviewing sooner <3

Thank you very much for your review! There is a fix with better mix, and transitions coming. Ugh, too many projects to deal with, I haven't even finished the fixes for Reborn. Also JayWEccent's project.

Thank you again for your advices! Lich Lord! :)

It's a nice tribute to Castle Crashers, I give you that, and for being made in only 8 hours that's certainly something. While I definitely enjoyed the heroic and cinematic vibe, I have a couple of things to point out for the future.

Transitions between the various sections just come in rather abruptly and I would have loved if some kind of percussion (a cymbal maybe) helped smoothing out the sudden changes in pace and instrumentation. I understand that you wanted to represent each CC character and give them a sense of individuality, but I think transitions here need to be smoothed out some more.

Some of the later sections also feel a little cluttered, such as near the end of the Yellow Knight section where the drums just go crazy and overpower anything else. I would simply suggest you to make sure every instrument has its own breathing space so that the epic vibe doesn't become overly chaotic and bombastic. I know it's a pretty popular trend but from my personal experience, it doesn't always work and certain stylistic choices need to be heavily contextualized in order to be justified.

I'm pretty sure you would have fixed those issues if you had more time on your hands (my own entry was made in 2 hours, go figure), so kudos for having tried so hard and still delivered an enjoyable track. I hope I made enough sense in my musical ramblings :)

Thank you very much for the feedback. Indeed this one is seriously lacking of transitions. I would have continue but at that time I couldn't lift my eyelids and my brain was at alarming rate. There will be a complete fix after the Pico Day event.

Thank you again for your review!
