Happy 2015!!

This was made in a little over one night as a way to use all of the new vsti I've spent a while gathering. I haven't been making use of them because almost all of them are Kontakt-exclusive and I do not own a full version of Kontakt (music is expensive, man...). Since my friend has gone back to college farther away, I don't have access to things like Shreddage or Guitar Rig anymore. And the timeouts, GOOD LORD the timeouts!!

Anyways, I didn't really worry much about coming up with a melody. I wrote a very simple marimba line and then went from there, making sure to use everything I could. The trumpet isn't quite fitting for the theme, but I wasn't stressing the details since it's for personal satisfaction. I had no intentions of sitting down and thoroughly tweaking this one over, though I did spend a bit of time fixing reverb on a few things since all of these different instruments sit a bit oddly together.

Hope you enjoy ;)

Wow! Brilliant piece of music :D As others may have already said, this song doesn't really have any sort of melody, but that kind of helps, I think. This song is very relaxing to listen to, and it also loops very well. Maybe a suggestion is to add a bit of lighter drums in the first few seconds, to make it loop even more nicely. 9.9/10!

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm happy you liked it! :D

Listening to this again and I dunno why but it makes me think of Donkey Kong Country and Metroid Prime music lol. I think its the percussion reminding me of Metroid Prime
I like the variety in atmospheric sounds, it keeps it interesting

Deemo-R responds:

I think I understand what you're hearing when you mention the percussion being like something from Prime. I can't describe the sound qualities myself, but I hear a few similarities in some of the sounds. The marimba/kalimba duo really does help lend to that deep African-jungle feeling that sometimes comes out of DKC, and I think that's what holds the theme through overall. I'm glad the atmospheric additions did enough evolving throughout to keep it from growing too tiresome for you :)

Thanks for listening again, man!

So... I've been listening to this for over an hour now.

Doesn't have much of a melody... doesn't need a melody. It's very soothing and pleasing to me, whether I listen actively or passively.

Happy 2015 to you as well. ^^

Deemo-R responds:

Holy sheesh! Thanks so much, Krichotomy, that means a lot to me! I really did trade strong melodic content for a simple, slightly atmospheric approach, so I'm really happy that it turned out well enough for such repeated listening!

Thank you! Hope 2015 is a good year for you! <3

This song is just awesome and relaxing i love it!
Great work man :D

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks a bunch! Glad you liked it :)

This is awesome man :) I don't think the trumpet is that bad at all in here in fact, I like it.
Really love how you mixed it, the reverb is good and it loops nicely too.
Sounds like something they should have added in Donkey Kong Country :)

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks for the kind words, Mattashi! DKC is definitely the primary inspiration here. I love David Wise's work for them! I even went for a similar vibe as some of his recent work with the synths that I used. The way they add to the song is really cool, imho.

I think my favorite thing about higher-end vsti is how much better they sit in a mix than my old stuff. I really only had to pan things around and do a tiny bit of EQ. It's a really nice feeling! :D
