True Silence

I wasn't really intending on composing anything this weekend.
However, just so happened I went to see Interstellar this Friday, and I was really inspired by the piano music to make something at least.

Thus, I made this mix between a composition and an improvisation. I'd say that about 80% of the stuff is improvised, based on the 20% that's not :p

My recording settings were really off this time, so the quality is not that great. Especially the low tones are really muddy, and lack power :(

Anyhow... Not really my usual style of composing, but it'll do, I guess.

High quality and nice.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks!

I'm going through and listening to a bunch of your music, I particularly love the improvisations. Also, this is pretty reminiscent of Interstellar, great job on it :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hey, thanks a lot! I'm glad you're liking the improvisations. I haven't found time to record any for a while, but I definitely should :)

Was expecting someone to troll with actual silence but found something great.

Amazing

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Well, I have uploaded some trolly stuff now and then xD
Luckily, this isn't one of those times!
I'm glad you like it, thanks a lot! :)

This is incredible.
It's difficult to understand how one can become this good at improvising.
What vst did you use to get this sound on the piano?

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hahha, well. Thanks :3
As I said, only about 80% is improvised! I did have a (not so solid) base that I went after in most parts.
I actually didn't use a vst at all!
I recorded the improvisation on my Yamaha Clavinova CLP - 230 electronic piano :p
After that, I exported (or rerecorded, rather) it to my computer via an AUX output via an RCA cable (with two 1/4 inch jacks). I used Audacity for this.
After that, I added the reverb using Cubase AI 6.

There's no need to be underconfident in the work. As an artist, I understand how we're our own worst critics. This really is a great composition overall. I loved listening to it. I read the Author Comments section afterwards. What I got from it originally was a feeling of the Advent Children song from Final Fantasy. THEEN I got Interstellar. lol. Great work overall. I look forward to more works from you.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I guess you're right. I'm always overly critical of myself, as are many other creators I know :)
I love Advent Children! And Final Fantasy in general :p
Thanks a lot for listening, and for the encouraging review, idreamtanangel! :'D
