So...
I'm already aware of the fact that this song will get poor ratings, as the quality of both the sound and the playing pretty much sucks.
Still, I feel this is a track that should definitely be uploaded to Newgrounds.
Why? Well, this is the first composition I've ever made, and even better, it's the original recording (with added reverb).
Those of you who know me from before will notice how much my playing has improved since this, as have my composing skills. I won't even go into the issues with this track, there are just too many. I'll stick to telling the story behind why I started creating music.

This composition was made and recorded by me more or less 4 years ago (God that's a long time ago, and yet it's not...)
I had already played the piano for 1 and a half year when I wrote this song, but for some reason I hadn't really ever tried to compose anything myself before that (at least not seriously).
Just so happens, my piano teacher used to give me "homework" between our lessons, and this time he only said something along the lines of "Why don't you just try composing a song?"

I was like, okay, and had a week or two on me to write a song of my own. Well, aready the very same day that I got home, I sat by my synth for two/three hours or so, and got a simple base. The next day I had already finished the song, and I was actually quite happy with it. That's all there's to it, really. I remember my piano teacher being pretty impressed when I played the song, saying that there might still become something of me :p

After that, I just kept on making new songs now and then, whenever I was bored or inspired.

As for the name... I've always been horrible at naming things, so I actually left the song untitled for a very long while. I don't even remember why I eventually chose to call this "Heavenly Waterfall", but who am I to question my past self?

Back to the suckines of this version of the song... Although there are only four very overused chords in this song, I still think the melody holds potential. I'm thinking of rearranging this composition someday. I'm thinking about doing that with a lot of songs though...

Now I think I've spoken far more than enough, so I'll just leave you to write bashing reviews and ratings for the past me from four years ago!

Ps. Why did I always play unnecessarily fast in the past? o.O

Sure, there's the rushing and the misplayed notes and the repetitive chord progression and the bad recording, but still, this is amazing. After one and a half years of piano, you were playing this? Damn.

I'd love to hear you rearrange this composition! It's always nice to revisit old stuff or some of your earlier stuff. You've progressed a lot over these five and a half years. :)

I've always been a pretty fast learner. Everyone used to be really impressed with my piano skills already at a pretty early time, because I always tried to play much more difficult stuff than I could handle. The result was that I learned to play very hard songs, alas poorly. Non-musical people don't always tend to notice how well you play a song though :/
I too think I've developed a hell of a deal since this, but I still have a loooooooong way to go :p

I'd love to rearrange this too! Do you know what I also would love :3
Some fucking free time from the army shit -_-
I'm past the halfway point though; only 75 days left!
I really don't have time to do anything, which is extremely frustrating. Either way, thanks for reviewing my first ever piece :'D

I like the melodies a lot. It has a very bright and bouncy vibe to it. It is fast-paced as you mentioned in the description, but that gives it a sort of childish and innocent energy which I like a lot. It is a bit simplistic in a way, but that sort of adds to the innocent quality. You have an excellent sense of melody (and you made this when you were much younger than I am now!). I think it's great for a first piece. Sorry I haven't really been keeping up with your productions lately, btw. There is a light at the end of the long, LONG tunnel of high school at which (hopefully) I will have more time. XD Nice work, LSD!

Why hello!

I'm glad you like the melodies, as they are my favorite part of this song (and the only thing that's really worth anything at all :p).
I like your use of the word "innocent", and I have to agree with it; this composition, if anything, has a pretty innocent vibe to it XD
Maybe it's because the production was so innocent too. I simply sat down and thought "hey, time to make a song", and made one :3

I might have a good sense of melody, but as you notice, at the time I had a horrile sense of rhythm and tempo :'D

Don't worry about not having kept up; I know you have a lot to do! But I'll only forgive you if you forgive me for not taking enough time to respond to your message this weekend (nor read your story, but I will do so asap [next weekend I'll get an extra day free from the army, so hopefully then])! >:)

Thanks!

It's always cool to see where good musicians came from originally. Funny enough, I'd say you were a lot better at piano back then than I am now ;P

As far as first compositions go, it's definitely one of the better ones I've heard. The melody's okay and the chords you picked fit nicely, but as I'm sure you know, it doesn't really go anywhere once it's started. The song kind of stays in the same position all the way through, though I do appreciate the playing around in the upper octaves as well as the left hand doing more than just blocking out chords the whole time. The mistakes early in the piece are noticeable enough to pull you out of it, but they don't continue throughout the entirety of the music. It's pretty enough, for sure. It's just not something I could imagine remembering into next week.

You already know all of that, however, so this review is kind of pointless. I just wanted to point out how much progress you've made from this point. :D

Hahha, yeah, I agree. I think it's great when you get to see an artists journey from the beginning to where they are now; how much they've developed, how far they still can go, etc. :p

Oh sure, I know that this piece isn't really going anyplace :)
It's the same chords, the same mood, and the same melodies throughout the whole song. The arrangement is sooo limited too, although I tried to vary the left hand patterns a bit.

But yeah, I don't really have anything to say to defend myself, I agree with all your criticism, as I'm sure you knew I would. Thanks for reviewing although it was a bit pointless XD

This is beautiful. I can only imagine what you could do with this now.
Keep up the good work! You have unique melodies in each of your songs, and I look forward to hearing more of your old and new compositions.

Whoah, thanks!
I didn't imagine I'd get any reviews with such a high rating on this song XD
I do believe I could do a lot more with this piece, were I to remaster it :3

I'm glad you enjoy listening to my stuff, and I mean to upload both old and new tracks in the future as well!
