I got to borrow a friend's SM7B, so I recorded some vocals for a recent project. Not sure what genre this applies to.

Lyrics:

Live and livid
Warm and timid
Dead by day and raised by the night
Revealed by shadows, consumed by light
Tethered to limits that constrain my might
When mother moon falls back I'll help her painting the sky

Dormant, hidden
Cold, forbidden
I tried erasing the worries below
Stampede of spirits that trampled my woe
Ancestors weep as their children return
Shredding the canvas, hoping that one day they'll learn

Definitely feels like it's out there, but I love how it's put together. It's got a weird vibe (and I'm not talking about an instrument), but it's really colorful. The singing is good too. You have a really nice groove going on the drums when the lyrics start. I like the harmony. I can tell it's in falsetto and they're clean, but I feel like they'd be a little better an octave down IMO. The ending makes me think of Panic at the Disco for some reason.

Anyway, sweet stuff.

Kabalist responds:

At the moment I'm kind of trying to figure out "my thing". Weird or not, I really digged this tune, and I'm glad you did as well! I wish I could've stepped down that extra octave, but that's too damn far from my vocal range, haha. I've never actually heard of that group before, but yeah, there's some resemblance.

Thanks for the review! Take care!
