It's been too long since I've had the time to work on anything music related, so to stretch my muscles, I decided to whip up something to get me back into music-mode. I've been pretty fond of the game and its music, so I thought it'd be great to do a rendition of one of the songs. This is the music you hear on the title screen.

This was done in about an hour and thirty minutes, so not too long. I made it a loop to stay true to the original.

Lovely use of piano though It does feel as if its missing something. You would be surprised as to what a well placed drum or set of stings could do for this song. The piano does tell a bit of a story but the story feels unfinished. Over all pretty good!

It has that right balance of sustain and reverb, leaving the mind to play with chords in a great way. While the lower rhythm is rather simple the upper melody keeps the song moving, making the song well named in leaving a sort of "light in the dark" kind of upbeat feeling for the imagination to wander along with.

Over all, the composition is very well made, and my only nitpick is the low-end of the piano.

Interesting. This makes me ponder on how to further use melodies and rhythms in correlation. I'll consider this in newer creations!
Thank you for the review! Low-end of the piano? I'll remember that.

The constant presence of the higher notes, even as the lower ones create a feeling of impending fears, leaves the feeling that there will be something to look forward to after the fears pass. It does just what the title says, and lets the listener "still have hope". A wonderful piece to be sure, especially when I didn't realize it had looped. It kept my attention to the point I thought "Wow, this is a long song. It's still pretty good though."

MaestroMikes responds:

Thank you! It's great to know what notes give you certain feelings.

An amazing piece, the way it's played creates a feel of resilience in the face of hopelessness.

MaestroMikes responds:

Thanks! It's interesting to see what others think about it. When I was making it, I thought towards making it sound peaceful, haha.
