Here's yet another funky tune. This is my first song that features my amazing super keyboard of imminent doom. Not trying to advertise here, but I'm using an M-Audio Oxygen 49. Works freaking great.

Note that this is still a work in progress!

FOR THE LAZY LISTENER:

0:00 - Intro
0:05 - Post-intro
0:15 - Post-post-intro
0:55 - Orchestral/piano/flute break
1:56 - Dubby wubby shubby steppy
2:36 - "Trapped in age of stimulation - Humanity's degeneration"-break
2:59 - Second dubby wubby squary thangs
3:39 - Funky shit once more
4:20 - Piano outro

Enjoy!

The composition is great. But the way it sounds mangles my ears. Keep working on it.

Kabalist responds:

Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's been a while since I made this, an I personally think the mix is terrible. I think my mixing/mastering skills have improved A LOT since this track, and I'm looking forward to improve this monstrosity.

Thanks for the reminder! :]

I love the jazz and funk influence here. Sweet stuff, mate.
Once it gets to that dubby wubby shubby steppy part, it makes me think of drumstep a bit. Dubstep skeletal rhythm in the drums with great DnB-style rhythmic ornamentation.
I love the composition, it has many more "EDM Unorthadox" chords than, well, a lot of EDM. You got creative with some sus chords there, and I appreciate it.

I have made some chillstep myself actually. This type of chillstep is actually completely different from what I make, but I love it :D. It's like a mix of jazz, chillstep and orchestra :D.
The way you divided the intro into three different part was amazing, and i loved the intro as well :D. Really loved the lounge feeling it gave with a little chillstep touch :D.
The piano part that came after the intro was really nice :D. It just felt so chill, and I loved the melodies. The sounding of the paino and flute is amazing and sounds very professional.
The dubstep part that came after the piano was rad :D. Really is my kind of drop. Especially when the square came in.
By the time the Funky shit came back I was already raving in my living room XD.
The outro was done almost perfectly though I wish you had faded the piano slowly out. I felt like it ended a bit too suddenly.

Overall I LOVED this :D. Seems like a lot of thought went into this track. Which I can always appreciate :). Thanks for making this awesome track :).

This is really great man, I love the way it progresses, it's not just a formulaic electronic song. My only suggestion would be to change it up in the first dubsteppy section of the song, like for example making the first note be played by a different patch than the rest, just for some variety in the bass because as much as I liked that part, it got kind of old pretty fast. It could stand to be messed with a little, but all in all I really liked this track. Awesome job.

I'm surprised the piano manages to shine through the scratchy snare near the beginning that seems to drown anything out, It sounds nice and continues to shine until the lead and hat start to overcome it along with the brass, But then it's dub time which seems too messy to me but I rarely dabble in dub, The simple synth rises and wizzles go great with the overall theme and the piano peeks in throughout to keep a sense of sanity, The Funk rub rhythm around 3:55 is great but the 8-bit synth seems over lived after it's pitch rise, Overall a good, great, complete sounding track with a simple but proper pianotic ending.
