Original Theme: Battle! Elite Four from Pokémon X and Y
Original Artist(s): Jun'ichi Masuda, Shota Kageyama & Game Freak
Mix Artist: Me.
Length: 2:47
Difficulty Level: 5 Star - Insane

----------------

As a challenge issued to me by AlbertStClare, I was tasked with the brutality that is remixing the Elite Four theme from Pokémon X and Y. I thought Giratina's theme was hard to do, but goddamn, this was a cannon fire straight into my cerebellum and a gunshot into my frontal lobe! Due to the sheer difficulty of this mix, I cannot promise that it will be 5-star material, or even 4-star material, but given the fact that this was extremely difficult, I think I did fairly well under said circumstances. Please, consider this in your viewing of this theme and in your reviews.

Credit also goes to my lovely girlfriend and a friend of mine critiquing this piece every step of the way, leading it to what it is now. If you guys comment about the chimes after the minute mark... blame my girlfriend. She requested them.

It sounds very dark. It almost makes the Elite Four seem insane! Lol.

Shiverwar responds:

I think the Gen V Elite Four was a bit kooky. xD Thank you for the review!

Yep, this is my new favorite Pokemon remix.

The music is so atmospheric! i have heard another one like this, but it seems i choose this one!

Shiverwar responds:

Heh... This is getting better reception than I had expected. Thank you for your review! If you liked this one, you should check out my other stuff, like my Kalos Legendaries arrangement.

To begin at the Beginning, I thought it rather interesting how the scratchy Sound (0:00 to about 0:09) appears to have been replaced with something vaguely, but which sounds more like it could have been produced by an instrument rather than a Synthesiser, which sets the Tone for what we are to receive in the Remake. When we progress, there appears to be a slight transition around 0:11 that I believe is your Addition, and then there is yet another Change in Instrumentation, which sounds like some Kind of Piano-Type Instrument. It carries the Bass well, though the Stretch between 0:12 and 1:10 which contains little else is a little long, but this is more a Criticism of the Original, which also has it; and when we DO get to the Buildup, it is executed very well, and appears to have added Flourishes here and there. The Arrangement carries itself well through to the End.

Had I thought to pick this apart before, I probably should not have suggested it, since it is a fair Deal more complicated than a first Impression might give (it seems to be doing several Things at once, among which are maintaining that ever-repeating Baseline, and some of it, especially the first eleven Seconds, were probably rather difficult to reproduce). Overall, I think you have done a good Job of remaking this.

Shiverwar responds:

...This is actually a much better response than I was expecting. The sheer difficulty of this song alone was what made it so mindnumbingly frustrating to pull off, so I didn't think I did as well as I'd hoped, but leave it to you to show me otherwise. Yeah, I tried to keep the overall tone the same while adding my own elements to it and somewhat increasing its forceful feel, like you suggested. And yes, I did add some flourishes here and there, especially with the french horns and string ensembles. And once again, yes, I did use a piano for the bassline. I thought Giratina's theme was difficult, but even its chaotic nature has nothing on the sheer magnitude of this.

If it weren't for a friend of mine as well as my girlfriend aiding me with critique and what not, I don't think I'd have executed this as well as I did. Thank you, as usual, for your fantastic reviews, and I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I think it's safe to put this under: "Challenge Completed"
