Our CyberLord & Savior, Aggrotech 2014

I would like to first give a special thank you to Taylor Bigony (niipaan) for providing the Female vocal dialogue in the track!

Second of all, welcome back everyone to another LichLord-esq Industrial track, my first full one of 2014 I believe. Immediately noticeable is a change in Mastering methods and a change in how my vocal-work sounds now (I'm driving it through a better mic and have it chained with an Ibanez TS9 Tube-Screamer Pedal). Anyway, enjoy! Vocals below:

=======
For as my wings of steel gracefully cut the air as I descend from the heavens, I gaze down upon the remains of what was gods greatest achievement.
I see a world full of misery, destruction and sin, I see our fallen bretherin outcast from our ranks aeon's ago mocking us
We will have to simply bring judgement down earlier than we planned
Together we shall cleanse the Earth once more. All hail our Cyberlord and Savior!

Deck the halls with the boughs of blood,
Crush their bodies into liquid chunks,
Humans resist the light of the judgement,
Veins of evil, fuel their lust.
Greed and wrath are where they stand,
Phlegethon is where they will land,
Aligned in a line of the judged
Sinners hope, aligned to Inferno

I see a world full of misery, destruction and sin, I see our fallen brethren outcast from our ranks aeons ago mocking us
I see a world full of misery.
Together we shall cleanse the Earth once more. All hail our Cyberlord and Savior!

Cry, you are not one of this world
Lie, you bargained with the gods
Deny, Fight, Fire and Death
Welcome to the final Judgement
See, the world as it is purged
Believe, your evil exposed to our lord
Relieve, the mark you left upon the world
Hail, Our Cyberlord & Savior

We live in a world of shit, pain and misery.
Our burning lands are ravaged of resource or life.
Our very people are immolated and cut down by the agents of god.
Did you think I would sit here and let them kill me too? Then you're gravely mistaken.

Slay the world with the hand of god,
Kiil the past, shape the future,
The rivers of hell are fueled with sin,
The scum of the earth are dumped down here.
The aeon's of pray and worship,
Those who are faithful shall ascend,
From man they were to angel they become,
Embrace the metal of the Cyberlord.

I see a world full of misery, destruction and sin, I see our fallen brethren outcast from our ranks aeons ago mocking us
I see a world full of misery.
Together we shall cleanse the Earth once more. All hail our Cyberlord and Savior!

Cry, you are not one of this world
Lie, you bargained with the gods
Deny, Fight, Fire and Death
Welcome to the final Judgement
See, the world as it is purged
Believe, your evil exposed to our lord
Relieve, the mark you left upon the world
Hail, Our Cyberlord & Savior

This is really badass. All the sounds are well picked and it just gets under your skin! Definitely have to be in the right mood to listen to this kind of music but it succeeds at what it's trying to do. My only suggestion would be to add some drops or slower parts to add a bit of variety and really give it a nice punch when it picks back up again! Awesome work!

Lich responds:

Haha, glad you like it! I will take note and try to include some slower parts or breaks into my tracks in the future.

This gives me a lovely little tingle at the furthermost tip of my dick.

Yum yum

I like the idea of mixing a heavy techno beat with these kind if vocals... Still, I like to be able to hear the vocals. A lot of other songs of this type have as hard to hear vocals as this, so maybe that's what people like. I was never a fan of it though. I really like the beat of the instrumental. Gives off a kinda of, ravish, divaish feel, if that makes since. Really interesting style overall, and very well put together.

Lich responds:

It's pretty common within the general genre for them to sound like that. Still, I wish I could achieve something to what Detroit Diesel done in their 'Coup D┬┤Etat' vocal-wise (but maybe a little bit more clearer).

Glad you like the instrumental-side of it though. It took me awhile to figure out a slower and more Warped/De-tuned lead sounded alot better than what I previously sequenced. The actual lead synth itself was one I designed from the ground-up myself in Gladiator2 around 4 or 5 months ago, this is the first track I've decided to properly use it in and I think it went down quite well :)

Thank you for the review!

Sounds like hardstyle. Not too big of a fan of that genre, BUT your production skill is amazing. I'm not sure if the vocals are supposed to be audible. I can hear them but I can't understand any of it, unless I'm reading a long. Good work.

Lich responds:

Thanks for the review.

I'm quite happy with my general production difference on this track. I've literally had nothing in the FX rack on the Master channel except L1+ UltraMaximiser & MaxxBass to introduce a more subtle/glued sound and it's worked in my favor for all the WAV stems Pre-Master. Before I would actually run IL Maximus on the Master, configure it to give a boosted yet clear sound and then work from there (turns out I was butchering the sound overall). Other than that, my general method after the WAV stems are exported is to put each one individually into Audition CC and then Master them individualy that way with a second load of Stereo-widening and alittle bit of minor EQ work.

Vocals are another matter altogether. I must emphasise for anyone who hasn't tried doing FX Processing on Aggrotech/Industrial vocals is that it's incredibly difficult to do on the recording side and very difficult to balance it out properly. At least I tried my best for how I recorded it this time, I was going for something alittle bit slower and hellish than my past tracks :P

Good to hear niipaan in action. Once again Lich, find a way how to tune in the vocals, they are still difficult to hear.

Lich responds:

It's a very fine battle of Power vs Clarity I will always find a struggle:

Make them easy to hear (i.e, no processing or Mastering at all): Too Weak
Make them Nice and powerful: Loss of Clarity
This is more how my vocals sound when recording. I'm putting strain upon my Vocal-chords to get the base sound & then boost it enough with some distortion (I'm actually using Hardware distortion for part of it now) to get the 'grit' followed by EQ'ing it appropriately and then adding any last minute modulation. I could change my vocal-style naturally but that would take months of practice and effort to 'adjust' along with the pain of stress on my Vocal chords.
