Do atheists understand afterlife? Let's find out!

Mr. Dem0lecule came back this week, and this time it was me who wanted to make a collab. Krichotomy, a great friend of mine asked for an Asian piece so we started to work on one.

Dem0lecule and I played around with the meditated music's concept. I didn't want to go with chill approach. Finally we agreed something in between not too soft but not quite strong.

Choosing a theme was tremendously difficult. Well, we both are 'atheist'. And atheists do not understand afterlife! However we tried to see what afterlife of Buddhism is like (Nirvana!).

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Do Atheists Dream of Afterlife?...

---

Anyway, like our last collab, Dem0lecule was in charge of creating the main theme & melody. While I worked on the arrangement and instrument selection.

From Dem0lecule, I learned many things about traditional Chinese music. We didn't want to totally use VST and virtual library for this. We recorded real samples:

- Dem0lecule did the recording on GuZheng, a zither with 50 different samples.
- We did the Pipa together, a plucked lute, thanked to his friend for playing it!
- As for the Erhu, a 2 strings bowed violin-like, we went to the local Chinese community (I live near the heart of Chinatown) and we recorded 5 separated solos

As for the light choir and orchestra in the background, we used ProjectSam Lumina. There were Celtic harp, French horn, cello and viola.

Hope you will enjoy our work. :) Thank you for your time.

You guys really hit that oriental 'nail' on the head with this one.
There is such a vast and engaging cinematic feel to this piece, I am really impressed.
Well done to all the participants.

Great track! The athmosphere has been captured very well. The details of the instruments are just wonderfull. Just love the combination of the strings erhu, Guzheng and flutes and the other supporting instruments. Sometimes (in the middle) the Guzheng becomes a little bit to dominant in my opinion. Really awesome how much effort you made to get a realistic result - i think it definitely paid off!

Great work dudes. 5/5 from me!
