This one is another one from the Project Icarus soundtrack (http://icarusgame.com) that I've been privileged to work on. I got to use my fancy new samples for this one, too. I like how it sounds, and I'm especially fond of the drums.

I'd love any feedback you can give. Thanks!

You've got a really good sense of dynamics and melody man. I remember thinking that in the last NGADM when I heard your entry, and I think you've gotten way better since then :-) Good luck in the tournament!

Nice piece. Very nice for a cinematic song. My only criticism would similar to that of SoundChris, the percussion would have been awesome if it was a bit louder. Otherwise, really solid piece. I listened to it a few times through, and really enjoyed it :)

Solid work. The arrangement works very well. The bass drum combined with the reverb really creates a very "wide and free" feel. I especially liked how you used the percussion. The spiccato violins combined with the sustain orchestra really felt very cinematic. Well inserted stadium kit.

Somehow i found the transition to the quiet part a little bit abrupt. I think its because you didnt really care for the volume control. This piece is really well crafted. But if you would use the full range of velocity it would be awesome. Maybe you can fix that little issue. Wont take much time, but i can insure you the effect will be incredibly strong. Use everything you have got - from pianissimo to fortissimo. This will pay of.
The piano piano chords also worked very well - asian inspired style like nobuo uematsu. I like that kind of pianoplaying.
Another thing i have noticed: The cymbals should be MUCH LOUDER!!! If you are listening to a real orchestra they almost kill your ears. That can be combined with the issue above: Dynamics / Velocity.
What would make this piece even better would be a change in feel / climax before the ending.

Overall well done sir. Hope you like constructive critizism :D

Cheers!

I do indeed, especially from a master such as yourself. I must admit that I only have two cymbal roll samples in my library, so I was trying to hide them away for fear of someone noticing they're exactly the same as the ones in all my other songs.

The transition is rough, and the mixing is to blame there. It was hard to preview the final track on my ancient laptop, so I had to hope and pray it would sound alright. I also have to say I completely forgot to add any dynamics to the piano, and I only just now noticed that. :/

Thanks for your review!
