This was a backup song for NGASS13, and ended up for midimachine. Hope he enjoyed it somewhat. I made it a while back in the good old Sour John days. Vocals are written and sung by Bossjohn Carpenter. I did the rest. I also sung the chorus for no reason. It's about someone who doesn't want to go outside because he/she is listless or perhaps even agoraphobic. The title is a small tribute to a Pink Floyd founder Syd Barett, who secluded himself during several periods of his live. I once read in an article not much was known about Syd Barett at the time, except he liked cacti. Also a cactus is a common household plant that in cold climates only thrives well inside, doesn't need a lot of attention, and isn't very cuddly. A good metaphor for antisocial people. I tried to emphasize the exotic nature of a cactus with exotic instrument like a pan flute. The intro and the outro of the song represent the coldness. The scrappiness of the sound is the mood of the character it’s about. Yeah I like crappie songs, I hope you do too.
