I've been walking that road
I've learnt so much from your light
I've been walking that road
I'm watching you from above
I'm leaving you for the stars

You told me not to believe
You taught me right from the start
You told me not to believe
I'm watching you from above
I'm leaving you for the stars

With you I always knew
With you my time is not mine
With you I always knew
My wings would stay just fine

This is an NGADM Round 3 Review.

What I liked:
-Very chill atmosphere.
-The sound quality is very good.
-Nice vocals!
-The mixing is very good.

What could have been better:
-There isn't a lot of variation in this piece. While I like the minimalist approach, I would have liked to see maybe another section or two.
-I would have liked to see some different instrumentation or a solo section at some point. I think strings would add a lot of warmth and character!

My biggest complaint is that this piece is sort of flat overall. That said, the quality is excellent and I really enjoyed listening to it!

Score: 8.6/10

What a pleasant song, garlagan. I really dig the relaxed approach with this track. Solid introduction, and a great transition into the verse...especially with those vocals! Although the lyrics are rather simplistic, I think they are quite nice. Going back to the vocals, I think you sing this line brilliantly “I'm leaving you for the stars”! The mixing and mastering you have done with this track is fantastic, everything sounds so dynamic and full.

The conclusion was a little weak and I would have liked to hear more work on melodies. Stepping outside of the typical song structure would have been a nice touch, too. Other than that, there isn't much to fret over. This is a great track!

Keep it up garlagan, this is fantastic! :)

- NGADM Round 3 Review -

Oh, yes. This is a very pleasant song to listen to. Wonderful singing, especially at 0:46! Your voice is really nice. It works perfectly for your style, and is mixed well, for the most part...at times, the instruments sound drowned out. This is not a huge problem though. Also, nice effects on your voice. I really love your lyrics, too. The ending was just satisfactory, as it didn't feel all too conclusive. Overall, this is a great lyrical song and one of my favorites from this round.

Hello.

The Good:
-Good synths and sound quality overall. Recording is clean and sounds good.
-Melodies are nice, the way they're sung is also very good.

The Not-So-Good:
-On the little breaks from the vocals, just having chords is kinda boring. Some other guitar or melodic work would have been great.
-The kick seems like it's a bit too bassy and causing mixing issues. Either that or there's some deliberate distortion on there.
-This is generally overly repetitive, without too much variation in the background. It sounds pretty much like generic rock.

Overall: Score of 8/10. Good sound quality, but it's kinda boring to be honest. There's nothing in it which makes me sit up and go "ooh, this is cool!". Instead it's just... basic. Sorry I don't have much more to say on this, there's not too much more I CAN say.

I have to admit, I was hoping to hear another amazing house track from you, like Ablixa, with awesome sound design, production and synthesis. What you've made here at first came off to me as a disappointment, since it has a significantly smaller palette of sounds than what I'm used to hearing from you. After a hefty amount of listens, I can say that I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. I still find myself longing for that well-produced house track I was expecting from you, but I actually really like this as well. It's charming, written well and even technically (singing, production, etc) this is excellent.

I really like your mixing and mastering here. While I would've liked a bit more headroom in certain sections so I can feel a more dynamic contrast, I can't deny that this is very well-produced. The drums are vibrant and punchy (although they do get slightly drowned out later on), the guitar tone is excellent, and the mix is very well-balanced. I can hear your voice perfectly, and yet I can still hear everything else well too. Finding a balance between vocals and instruments is something I've had a lot of trouble with, but you do it so well over here that you make it look like it's nothing. I also really like your singing voice. It's dreamy and when you sustain the high notes it sounds excellent, making it excellent for this song.

Your composition, while not striving to sound complex and intricate, is suitable and enjoyable. I actually quite like the chords you're playing on the guitar, and the melodic line sung by the vocals is quite good! On top of that, you have a good structure, lovely progression, and some really cool things like how you highlighted the word "above" at 1:20. Your intro and outro were both nothing special, but weren't bad by any means. You started the track with the main riff, so to speak, and progressed well from there, and the ending was a satisfying way to finish the track without being too climactic or demanding too much attention.

I find it hard to criticise this track. It has a really great charm, but I feel like the atmosphere/instrumentation is a bit too generic. It makes the track lose a bit of its meaning, and I would've liked an atmosphere and set of sounds that was a bit more "tailor-made" for the track (see jvonm's Round 2 track, for example). You still manage to create a good atmosphere, with melancholic, reflective chordal sections, strong use of reverb, and your soft voice, but I'd like to hear some more unique soundscape and instrumentation that gives this track a means to stand out among other tracks in this genre. Also, I would've liked more melodic variety in the vocals.

This is excellent, despite the problems I mentioned. I'm going to have to give it a slightly lower score than your opponent, because JacobCadmus also made a very, very good track, but consider me a fan! That was awesome. Keep it up.
