well... how do I start... I made this for Round 3 of the NGADM'13. I put a lot of work into this one, but I don't know... I wanted to showcase the different cultural influences I have in my life, but I think I didn't got everything... I have arabic blood aswell, but I had no f%$king clue what to do, and I didn't had enough time also...

So this is it... enjoy!

Ps: for the acoustic guitars a friend of mine lended me her guitar and I recorded it through my condenser mic... it's a 60 years old beautiful peruvian guitar. I love how it plays and how it sounds... it's just amazing!

Dude. Duuude. This is awesome. I was just pointed to this track via someone who said a track of mine reminded them of it, but I'd say this is pretty head and shoulders above me. The only mix advice I could possibly throw out would be to cut the gain on the rack toms and the synth that comes in at 0:30 (it's actually ideal up to 0:37, then seems to jump).

You know what this reminds me a lot of? Kiko Loureiro. If you haven't heard of him, check out the No Gravity album, I guarantee you'll dig it.

InYourDreams responds:

Hey thanks man!... Kiko Loureiro is AWESOME. Im a huge fan of him. I've been a fan since Angra and his solo stuff only make me like him even more :P. I've met him once at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt :D.

Whoa! Now this is different. Your flamenco-metal approach is something I don't think I've ever heard before. To say that this is different would be an understatement. You are able to switch between the styles so easily...very impressive! The introductory acoustic work is amazing and it compliments your typical heavy-hitting metal style quite nicely when you make that seamless transition at 0:30 (the following portion until 1:06 is great by the way). You did a good job with the mix of the track, every sounds clean (the synth could use a little tidying up, but nothing too heavy).

The repetition of the metal sections were a little hindering to the overall track, but they were still awesome. Although I loved the synth, it sounded just a bit strange when mixed with the electric guitar. The conclusion, in comparison to the rest of the track is a little weak – it just cuts after the main pattern. With a little more build-up and a mix of that flamenco style, the conclusion would definitely shine!

What an interesting track. Keep on rockin' it InYourDreams! :)

Score: 9.5/10

What I liked:
-I really love the mashup you have here of flamenco and metal. It works really well!
-The opening was fantastic. I really love that guitar sound.
-The transition at 1:06 is sweet. In fact, so sweet I went back and listened to just that several times. Awesome job.
-I think the areas where this track shines the most is the flamenco-styled areas.

What could have been better:
-Some of the metal sections get pretty repetitive.
-I didn't like that synth over top of the metal stuff at all. I think you should have incorporated the flamenco sounding guitar.
-There is not enough flamenco guitar. I think it's genius to mix these two styles, but it feels like you leaned toward what you were most comfortable with in the end as opposed to diving more into the newer genre.

Overall this is a fantastic track. I really like what you have going on here, and you're and excellent guitarist. Great work!

Score: 9.2/10

- NGADM Round 3 Review -

Wow. Beautiful introduction. The transition to the electric guitars was not very smooth, but the transition right back out of it was great! Very smooth, yes.

The part at 1:30 felt bland in terms of composition, but fortunately this only happens once around. I love how you switch between styles so easily. It's easy to put past with even with the simplest of imagery. Although at 2:26, the beat was not introduced so smoothly...not at all, in fact. This only goes for the drum beat, however; everything else was fine, and the section added a nice touch to break away from the main melody.

Your chords and melodies just come together well. I'm impressed. When you brought your main theme, man it was so awesome. But that ending! It wasn't so good. It was rather inconclusive, as if the file was cut off or something. Overall, man, this is wonderful. Definitely one of my favorites :)

Score: 9.3

InYourDreams responds:

Hey alti! Thanks for the review! :D... I'm glad you liked it that much.
Yeah, my ending could have needed a little more work... but I still like it. I think the main problem is, that the ending doesn't fit well with the main theme... maybe I'll change it one day.

thanks anyways for the lovely review :)

After that intro, I most certainly wasn't expecting the main section. It was such a sudden change of mood and took me entirely by surprise. Kudos for the unique touch and idea. I love the sound of the guitar in that intro too, and again when it comes back in at 1:06. Instrumentation is pretty awesome in general, and you've got a good heart-thumping drive which keeps the piece interesting.

Percussion is however a bit off at points, and got a bit repetitive as the song progressed. A few transitions here and there were sloppy too, and could have used more work. The main theme got a bit boring at points too, and could have been a lot better in terms of variety.

Overall, a pretty decent piece. You've got the potential to be better though, so keep working at it!

Score: 8.2/10

InYourDreams responds:

Thanks Echo!
Yeah I know what you mean with the transitions... I didn't put enough time and effort into them, and that's what mostly went wrong. I'm dissapointed at the main theme aswell... I wrote the drums first on that part, and when the time came to do the guitars, it was a little late. So, like every normal person, I panicked like a little biatch and stayed with the first thing that sounded good at the moment xD...

I should had started earlier...
