"Insert Title of Review Here"

date: October 30, 2008

I've go to say it is an interesting take. I like your willingness to explore different instruments to redo these "classic" tunes. It's really good but there are some critiques for you. Take'em or leave'em.

*Your intro and the intro to the original do not meld. Work on the transition because you really have a nice sound in the intro, but without a proper transition it jerks the listener out of the entire song.

*The following probably hurt your score the most. Perhaps I am being too harsh and unjust, but in the original I LOVE the harmonized guitars at the moments such as (1:33 and 2:38). The fact that such a strong part was overlooked in this recreated version was shocking. It is the pinnacle of this piece (in my opinion) and without that it seems empty.

Keep it up. You have a good ear for this, and perhaps some studying in music theory would enhance that. Nice work!

I hope that wasn't too constructive o.O

Author's Response:

Good thing I'm taking music theory this year. :D

Anyway, I know the intro's got a bad transition. It doesn't match the rest of the tune in any way, shape or form; once we get into chord progressions in Music Theory, I'll rewrite this.

Also, my guitar soundfont selection sucks. Pro Tools should change all that. As for the harmony, I had a REALLY bad habit of overlooking the majority of harmony tracks in the MIDI files I collected. Being just a kid back then, I can understand why, but it's not fair to cheat the people who enjoyed the original like that. I've been making more use of the harmonies in recent mixes. Hopefully I can get some more recorded stuff on here before the year's end, but doing a major rewrite of S-E-P-H-I-R-O-T-H! is all-consuming right now on the music end.

Anyway, thanks for your review. Frankly, I wish all my reviews were this constructive.

"Pretty Good"

It's pretty good, better than the first remix IMO. Did I hear some FF7 instruments in there? Well, whatever. Keep in mind, most of the themes in FF9 are already remixed versions of their FF1 counterparts (Like G-Volcano.)

Author's Response:

Good ear! I used the detuned Electric Piano from the FF7 sound kit in this mix. I think you deserve the coveted almond roca brownie pie.

Thanks for your review.

Hey, JTgamer, FF9 was my First Final Fantasy (or Final First... hm, a paradox.) too! I'd love to see a website like that, so let me know if you make it!

Anyways, to the review. You don't hear much of this game's music, so really, that makes this cool. It's a little odd in the beginning, but that's fine, it still sounds cool.
An interesting thing to mention, since this one is more medieval-like that the past two, they included that classic dananananananana thing through the whole song (I guess to compensate for its absence in the last two games).

Crazy Lou Out!

(First Fantasy Final? Final First...?)

Author's Response:

Actually, the famous FF bassline is in just about every FF game. You just gotta listen for it. For example:

FFVII: The line is shuffled, but it's in "Still More Fighting" (or "Those Who Fight Further" for a more accurate Japanese-English translation) during the end melody. It's also in the four measure crescendo before the main melody of "The Birth of a God".

FFVIII: I'm not sure, but it's in there somewhere. Trust me. :)

Thank you for your very thoughtful review.

"Truly Amazing...."

date: January 29, 2007

I have ff9, and Im on disc 4 of it. FF9 was the first Final Fantasy I've ever played, and I hooked to it. I think I MIGHT make a FFFF site(Final Fantasy Fanatics Forever You have true potential for music making, I'd bet you could make Nobuo Uestamu (Final Fantasy music maker) wet his pants. Keep up the damn good work.

Author's Response:

Thank you. Ignore the later remark about being an r-tard.
