So lately, I've really been into Cardiak's beats and setups, but my favorite beat of his has to be MMG's Rise. The song has a lot of bass, phat drums, and all around great sound. Then I found on YouTube that he has videos on how he has made some of his beats, including Rise (also, Amsterdam and Polo &Shell Tops). So, I tried going for a different type of mastering that causes the track to be compressed, but have the kick tough, but not too much to where it clips or anything, just "decompressed." I believe the song turned out really nice and I put this in the oldskool section cuz I sampled the part you hear in the beginning throughout the whole song and kept it simple. Plus, I feel like you smooth cats of the oldskool section may apprecate this beat. Anyways, I should have a few more beats out very soon. Pleez rate, review, download, and enjoy!!! :D

This is some pretty sick sampling work man, but I feel the sample could use a bit more volume, sounds a bit too quiet, mostly the part that plays before the change at 01:25, also liking the clap/snare combo.

Stavier responds:

Thanx you very much. Yeah, it is a little quiet, I agree. The only reason I can't bump it is cuz the sample itself has too much hi-end and clipping which would make the clap/snare too loud and the clipping would be annoying. I mean the master track itself is fine, it's just the sample itself. I'm glad you liked the samples I chose doe. Thanx for the review!!!

Nice beginning. I like how it it leads into the beat. The bass has to be my favorite thing about the song. It kind of feels like I should be relaxing. Kind of a song that would try to help me go to bed lol. It took me a while to get used to the strings and the brass, but I like em.

Hmm I have a couple of grips though, but it may just be me. I am wearing my studio hps like you recommended :D, and i hear that the snaps and kick is a wee bit too loud. Also, as much as I like the bass, I thought it needed a new variation once in a while. It's just...It feels like the bass is ur main focus point of this song, because its what I hear the most of, and its loudest. And that's Okay! For a 4 minute song, i definitely recommend some variation =) but if your happy with how it is, by all means keep it! It's your art.

Keep it up.

Stavier responds:

Haa, thanx! I actually just got a new vst called Trillian from Spectrasonics and it's really good for bass, but there was such a wide selection that I was hoping it'd sound good for the song so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, the brass and that was just my own little addition since sampling is hard to make it sound "original." Yeah, the snaps were loud here and there cuz the original sample has like loud snaps then it lowers so it was partially that. So actually, the bass and kick were fine, it's just the sample that's kinda quiet which I couldn't make higher due to clipping and the hi-ends :P The bass does have slight variation though, it's just a lil' hard to tell I guess. Thanx for the review!!!
