So I think I'm officially finished with this song. At least, it's been a template for me to try to get better at mixing and arranging. I crafted it almost a year ago and I can say I'm indefinitely happy with the results until I get speakers and figure out what else I'm doing wrong and/or need to improve on. I improved the drumline (imo) and spiced up some of the piano parts.

What started as a "Oooo, this sounds neat" in FL studio ended up being me tinkering a lot of notes to make something that I believe sounds beautiful. This is my first ever beat, but it sounds more like I was trying to compose something. I don't know. I plan on doing a lot more in the future, but for now I leave you with this. Enjoy, for what it's worth. Leave feedback if you'd like, as I still feel there's a lot I can do to make this better. Let me know.

Reminds me of a 1980's Bruce Hornsby track, good for a film or short. Really liked everything before 1:07. I only say that because I the solo section could use some tightening up melody wise. But overall a good track.

Do you mind if take a shot at this? I got some ideas

Convey responds:

I spiced it up halfway through the second verse. Generally it's just a 4 chord variation.

Anyway, hell yeah. What do you need exactly? I use FL studio so I can just send you the FL file if that's what you use too.

Haha! That piano at those claps! Makes me think of Never Ever by All Saints. Listened to it in my headphones like i do with all songs so i can get the full experience you intended. I like it. If you can take this whole arrangement and make it sound more natural and earthy with live instruments it would be even better. Good job man.

Convey responds:

Thank you! Unfortunately live instrumentation is pretty hard for me to come by as I literally know zero musicians right now. :( I take what I can get and arrange with what I can. In this case it was a bunch of soundfonts from that one thread in the audio forum a while ago. I also am getting better at mixing (Although I need to figure out what speakers to get to do an even better job at it) but sadly I hardly have time these days to create new songs as much as I'd like. I definitely need to get on uploading more things here... I updated this song for the last time as I really need to focus on making more shit instead. Take a listen and send me a PM telling me what you think.

Listened to that song you mentioned, holy shit it does sound like it.

This is actually really great for your first time! I'm really pleasantly surprised, keep up the good work! I only took off a star because it probably could've been mixed just a little bit better.

Convey responds:

Totally, haha. I'm still tinkering with this song to date as far as it's mixing goes. Basically, the more I play around with it the more I learn. Eventually I'll master it and come back and mix this song a little better.

Thanks for the review. :)

I like it. Very chill, sort of sombre. Maybe the drums could use some work though (but that could just be the laptop speakers fault).

Convey responds:

Hey. Thanks! I'm not exactly sure how the drums sound on laptop speakers as I made this through headphones. I programmed them through drumaxx and while I wanted to give the snare some reverb I didn't know at the time how to send that to the mixer so I ended up giving them all of the drums reverb (since then I found out how, so that'll be fixed once I'm finished with this new song). Unfortunately my laptop is fried and I kinda know first hand my laptop speakers suck. But I'm over thinking this. :P

Glad you liked it though. :)
