This has a good theme.
If you were to
(a) make this into a full song and
(b) put in something like a descant line starting at around 19-21, where the sound seems more muted (I believe "buzzy" was a term you used), that might sound really cool.
just in case- a descant is a high line above the melody that accompanies the theme, and can be a variation of said theme. Often gives the impression of notes "soaring" above the song.
