Inspired by Quentin Stipp's (1600) art: http://www.newgrounds.com /art/view/1600/lurking

My entry for the Art Inspired Contest 2013.

It is a multi-themed track made of different atmospheres and action-oriented sounds. I'd like to thank anyone for your patience.
I hope you enjoy

In a way, this reminds me of some FPS games like the Crysis series, like the picture itself. I can see this song playing in the background as you venture through a level like that picture. My only complaint is I feel the guitar could be a bit less crunchy to sound a little clearer, as I understand the intent behind this concept, which is cool. This has a good sense of atmosphere and really brings you deep into a sci fi/futuristic world like the picture itself. Great use of glitchy samples and samples overall, great mixing.

Thank you for your review. I deliberately mixed the guitar in a "crunchy" way so that in my eyes (and ears indeed), it fits in a dark cyberpunk environment with a more action-oriented edge instead of being solely textural. Nonetheless, I'm glad you enjoyed the piece, even though I acknowledge it not being among my best works.

Oh man. The atmosphere here is just incredible. The whispering vocals at the beginning and end really add to that. The very last few seconds of the track sounds rushed, because with this type of music you have created, I think the ending that would best suit this would be slightly drawn out or sudden and dramatic. This one seems to land smack between the two.
As for your guitar work, it is great; bass is very cool, and percussion wonderfully mixed ...everything about this piece just screams "ATMOSPHERE!!" - which completely suits the art piece that inspired you. Well done!

ForgottenDawn responds:

Thank you for your insight. It may sound rushed because in fact I had very little time left to finish my entry and I was already fighting many adversities and annoyances, like my headphones failing at the last minute or constant black-outs and internet shutdowns. So in the end it was kind of a miracle I actually managed to finish it in time. I could have made it better, and I think it's a decent piece but not great or memorable. 'Till next time, and thanks again.
