My second contribution for the A.I.M contest. After I finished Submerged I felt I wanted to do something more, and I went back to my favorit marked art and knew instantly when I saw Katz by jagondudo that I wanted to do something with it and tell something about the woman with the cat.

I decided to keep this one free from electronic instruments and just stick to the guitar and my voice. First, I was short on time, second, I have always liked this simple setup and the acoustic guitar is my absolute favorite instrument. It is very close to be just the clean recordings except for the reverb and echo effects. I wrote the song in one day and one more day for recording, listening and mixing. Never had such a flow before!

Lyrics:

Small, frail, firm, sharp
Reliable, threatful, selfish, empathetic

I see myself in the eyes of cats

Cold, bold, logical, magical

I see myself in the eyes of cats

Squeezing your hand till the blood stops, till your mind goes bland
Crawl through your skull, follow down your spine

I See myself in the eyes of Snakes

I might not land on my feet. Get soaked in pouring rain, makes my heart beat

We're not the same but somewhere deep in there, I see myself in the eyes of cats

Sound: Very simple, so there's not much to go wrong here. xD

Composition: This is a very interesting composition. Somewhat odd at some parts although slightly repetitive at other parts. Very simple too, which actually works well for the song.

Fit to Art: A very unreal and pensive take on the piece, almost like someone lost deep in thought. Definitely fitting.

Originality: The track on its own doesn't sound too original or unique, although paired with the art it is quite interesting.

Thanks! Great feed-back. :)

This is a very vivid and dark interpretation of the artwork, I really like it. It's beautifully written. Not sure what else to say but great job here, I love it.

motakay responds:

Thanks man! :)

Another great song. Interesting reverb. You know the previous song and this one particularly remind me of Muse. That's not a bad thing because I like Muse. It has the same dramaticness about it, only you don't sing that high pitches, and that's also a good thing to be honest.

motakay responds:

Thanks! I havn't listend to Muse at all acctually, so I guess I need to do so. :)

A buddy of mine faved this tune, now I know why.... The singing voice, the words and the musical accompaniment, all gel together to sound full, professional and inviting!

motakay responds:

Yes, that one, love that artwork. :)
Thank you very much!

LOVE the distonic sound of this! This is now the soundtrack to every interaction I will ever have with a cat. They're totally like this...
