A WIP or something I wrote late last night. I pretty much know where I want to take it, but I just need to figure out the notes, fine tune it and figure out a title.

Plenty of mistakes and rushed areas, but I didn't feel like nitpicking over a WIP as I'm just hoping to get some feedback.

Criticism always welcome.

This is really good. I almost found it hypnotic. I think it can use some more structure (like a A-B-A or something), hopefully with a good melody line. The current melodies are fine (actually very good), but sounded like short sentences that didn't progress anywhere. I thought it'd be better to have a "paragraph" of melody in there that kind of develops, if that makes sense.

Again, this is really good. And you've got yourself a new follower. Keep the good stuff coming!

drumdude responds:

I'm HORRIBLE at structure. This is probably my biggest problem right now as a musician.
My guess is it has something to do with the way I compose. I play with a very "go with the flow" mentality and find it hard to thoughtfully add to a piece. This is probably due to my complete lack of a musical IQ (I don't even know the names of the chords I play, just that they sound decent) but I am desperately working on fixing this.

Appreciate the reviews, and it's always nice to have new followers.
Thanks!

Much more held together than that previous improv. Much much more. Really very nice melody. It turns so easily here. Both hands are interesting, or perhaps the generally constant change of chords masks the pulse of the left hand, which works just as well. I might just listen to this to learn what you're playing so I can really analyze it. Maybe even collab? I really love this style of music, I just can't get my hands off it. Very nice idea going on here, definitely could benefit from an elongation of more ideas.

drumdude responds:

To be fair, this isn't an improv. I love this type of music as well. Some of the music that started me playing piano was similar to this style.

Not entirely sure about a collab. I'm certainly open to it, but I have very little experience making music and 0 knowledge of theory, so I feel like I wouldn't be much use.

Thanks a lot for the review!

I really like this piano excerpt. :)

It's soothing and calming. It makes me want to reflect.
OR, it makes me think of a totally different scene, in which there is a dramatic plot unfolding itself in front of everyone, Like a montage.

Either way, I appreciate the effort you put into making this and I appreciate the smooth, calming effect.
It gives off a Marie-Antoinette vibe that I very much like. :)
The only thing I can complain about is that the song ends way to soon. :)

drumdude responds:

Thanks! :)

It's always interesting to hear how someone interprets a song, and after reading your review and I can definitely see where you're coming from.

Like I said in the description, I already have an idea what to do, so it will definitely be longer when I make the final product.

Thanks again for the review!
