Copyright Dark Cloud Atlas blah blah I don't own the franchise or anything shame on me.

Gotta love dat Dark Cloud.
I was starting to get rusty, so I thought the perfect little jogger would be a nice medley arrangement. I've been playing some Dark Cloud lately and I'm in the Matataki area, so all of my feels are all like "AWW GORO YOU POOR LITTLE FATTY D: "
So this song was written to portray Goro's story by using lots of pieces from that part of the game. Hope you like it!

Songs in order of appearance:

Wise Owl Forest (slowed)
Time of Destiny
Ballad of Fudoh
Wise Owl Forest (normal speed)

... Ironically enough Matataki Village isn't in this medley, lol.

Dark Cloud-related music! Hurray!

First of all, let me compliment on you on fusing together various remixed pieces of the game's fantastic soundtrack. I think 'Time of Destiny' (or the 'Memories' track, which is like an acoustic version with the same melody, I think...) is perhaps my favourite, so it really warmed my heart to hear those same frisson-inducing chords in your medley.

I love that rather triumphant shift to 'Wise Owl Forest' around 2:11 - just when I thought the piece had slowed down, that part reignited everything. Glorious!

I also like the songs 'Open Your Eyes' and 'The Djinni Dran'.
Tomohito Nishiura really composed a dream collection of music for this game.

Anyway, you did a smashing job here and I find myself reviewing this several months after actually downloading it. Ah well, I'm here now. And I found a talented new musician to follow. Isn't it great when that happens?

LadyArsenic responds:

Oh wow, thank you so much for all of your kind words! Dark Cloud is one of my favorite games with one of my favorite soundtracks, so this was really a treat for me to do.

I intended for the medley to represent Goro's side of the story, so I started with a very desolate version of Wise Owl and worked my way up to Time of Destiny. I feel like it's kind of Toan's designated theme so it introduced him to the story. Then when the melodies are done combining it moves to Fudoh, because Toan was able to reveal to Goro what happened to his father. The news devastated him, but it also inspired him, so it was only natural to make a very spirited finish with Wise Owl.

Both of those songs you mentioned are gorgeous, I totally agree. I might make more medleys in the future! =D

Anyway thanks so much for your encouragement and feedback, and thanks for listening!

You did a really amazing job with this piece and you really did the game justice. I think my only real complaint is with Time of Destiny, I could see what you were doing comparing it to the original, but it sounded like 2 flute attempting to synchronize. Other than that, everything was done perfectly.

LadyArsenic responds:

Yeah, I never quite could get the flutes right for that section. I can't decide what to change there. :/

Thank you though, I'm glad to see another fan of Dark Cloud out there! =) Thanks for listening!

Some very good mixing/mastering. Reverb is good and instruments are nice and full, which is rare. Sometimes the folk flute is a bit too quiet imo.

Good work! :)

LadyArsenic responds:

Thank you so much, I'm glad you're able to say that! ^_^ I used to have the absolute worst time with the instruments until I got better headphones. Lol unfortunately the headphones must be too good, 'cause the flute kept blasting my ears away and I continued to lower the volume. Oh well, I can fix it later I guess, hahaha. Thanks for listening! <3
