Wow beautiful

Now this was some really beautiful I love how you start this one off and would love to hear some vocals with this seems like the perfect piece for some vocals and such, but besides that the piano in this or guitar was just amazing so nice at about 1:13 it changes over rough but still ok, anyways nice tune.

Very nice chord changes, and playing. Had a very loungy feel at times. Only thing i can say is I would have liked to hear the rythm get a grounded later in the song to groove, but thats just me :P

SilverPoyozo responds:

I have a disturbing lack of groove...I'm still not very good with drums and percussion.

But thanks =)

NGAP 10TH ANNIVERSARY CONTEST REVIEW

--

Wow, that's exactly what I needed. Some mellow jazz. Thank you.

The composition here is just beautiful. I haven't given points to that many people for the composition because, needless to say, it's generally someone else's since this is a cover competition. However, I have to mention that you entirely changed the chords of the original and it just sounds amazing in this setting (0:43 gave me goosebumps!). The song you chose is far from jazz but it works so well in jazz that it's making me wonder why TroisNyxEtienne didn't make it jazz in the first place haha. The instruments other than the guitar play some fantastic supporting melodies. The piano especially sounds great at the end where it really shifts the pace into a more uplifting style.

My complaint here is that unfortunately this sounds somewhat disjointed. Instead of being one cohesive song, this often just pauses one section and starts another, like at 0:21 and 0:57. I really appreciate you turning the original into this rubato jazz thing, but that doesn't mean you make it sound like it's not a full, structured song. Some transitions just didn't work. This is my only complaint, and it may be more than just a minor issue but it sure as hell didn't detract from the incredible composition.

All in all, fantastic work. I'm highly impressed.

SCORE: 9/10

SilverPoyozo responds:

Yes exactly, when I first heard her original version the harmony just screamed 'jazzy' to me.

Well, that happened due to the lack of time and especially my lack of skill with beats, I planned on making the transition smoother with some drums.Plus, I intended for the song to be a bit longer, so the first section would make more sense...but still I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the review.

Hello.

The Good:
-There's some really nice harmonics in this.
-Instruments are played well, when they're the real instruments.
-Really really awesome instrument choice, I particularly love the pad at 1:36 and about 1:50.

The Not-So-Good:
-The bass is almost inaudible.
-The intro seems somewhat disconnected to the rest of the song, since it's in a different key and has a different feel.
-I would also have to say that the transition at 0:59 was somewhat sudden, as was the one around 1:25.
-I really wish this would be longer so it could have more of an ending.

Overall: Score of 8/10. Biggest problems were the intro and the extremely quiet bass.

SilverPoyozo responds:

I'm not so good with mixing, so...I always end up with a really quiet or loud bass. The song was supposed to be a bit longer, so the intro would make a bit more sense, but I didn't have much time to work on it.
And I planned on using some drums to make a smoother transition, but I really couldn't do it.

Thanks a lot for the review!

Hm, I could barely recognize the original theme in there until about 1:38. That said, this is a wonderful and very authentic jazz guitar piece! Some of the harmonies are just incredible. This is certainly a favorite song of mine in its own right. The low-key minimalist approach works great here.

SilverPoyozo responds:

Thank you so much!Sadly it felt very incomplete and disjointed as others have stated, but still...I really tried to make justice to the original song. And I hope I did.
