Angelic Wonder

A piece inspired by hymns, works of the Romantic era, and a taste of modern Cinematic. My main goal was to write a piece that was truly gentle in nature, as so much of my work is heavy, sad, or violent. I really wanted to enter this contest at some point, but I have had so little time to write... I just cranked this out this morning. :)

Instrumentation is in the description (Strings- Violins, Violas, Cellos, Contrabasses; Harp, English Horn, French Horn, Trombone, and some soprano voices to angel it up). I used EWQL Symphonic Orchestra & Choirs and wrote this in Finale 2012.

Feel free to leave some thoughts on the piece or any interpretations you may find! :)

It seems like you are best as both horn and string. I was always proud of my string work, but your totally puts my skill to shame. Very emotional, I love your harp touch for the ending.

samulis responds:

I've been experimenting with calmer styles while you have been away. I think I have finally managed to calm down a bit, haha.

Oh, this is fantastic! It definitely has a gentle yet majestic feeling. It truly is like angels are descending from above xD Awesome job! <3

samulis responds:

Hey, thanks! :D

I really tried to get a gentle feel; so much of my music is dark and heavy.

Samulis! Man! What a "royal" feel. Definitely a soothing, angelic piece. I can imagine myself standing in magical world where a vast land around you with fairytale like environment. There is no need for any amendment/changes as thought process is never ending, so it fits perfectly well in its own premises. Those warm to high strings with choirs always give me goosebumps. Most important point is the glimpse of what you can do in a limited time. Well done!

samulis responds:

Hey, thanks man! I guess it does have a bit of a regal taste to it, very true. I really love using upper voices, they are really gorgeous texture-wise in clean fifths and thirds. That fantastic feel was definitely one of my aims. :)

You know samulis, you did really good! (When I say this next part I will sound either like a stoner or someone who just really likes music, or maybe both.) When I heard this I thought of a fantasy world, adventuring in a forest!

samulis responds:

Hahaha... thanks for the review man. I was trying to go for that gentle almost fantasy feel with this. :)

Now this is music!

samulis responds:

:DDDD

this comment made my day, I think.
