"Wow."

date: June 26, 2006

Man, this is great. Very good composition, great arrangement, awesome playing. I loved that little apocalypse before it modulates to Db minor. And I loved the rest as well.

All your stuff is great man, I don't think I've come across a better classical composer here. I detect influences from Beethoven, Chopin and Grieg, but it's still very genuine and unique.
A great future could await you man, seriously.

In a week or two, when I have much more time, you'll be getting some more detailed reviews from me.

Of all people, I especially want to know what you think of my "Coming of the water". Could you take a listen to that and throw me a review? I'd greatly appreciate that.

Author's Response:

Finished with my review. Man, in retrospect that review was cruel, and I kept on saying duet for some reason. Oh well. :D

Seriously, this review made my day.

I have influences from every early to late Romantic composer imaginable, Beethoven and Chopin included. I've hardly ever listened to Grieg, but hey, maybe it's a kind of...subconscious...whatever.

Ooh, more reviews. I look forward to them with great antici...

Anyhow, thanks again for the awesome review. If you want me to review any other classical pieces you've submitted, feel free to ask (I have lots and lots of time to kill).

"O M G"

date: June 13, 2006

This is incredible, Simon. Seems like you stayed up late doing it ;)

The main theme is just lovely. I felt like dancing when I heard it. I like how it even gets a little violent at times. And sad even. (Like you said, they switch emotions quickly).

I wish I could theoretically dissect this song; however, I do not know enough to tell that kinds of stuff yet. Lemme see...Nope, I can't, sorry. Just know that I loves it.

Can't wait for more, 5/5, all that good stuff,

Rocky

Author's Response:

Oh, it's just difficult because it moves fast. It's quite simple, really. Lesse what I can remember...

I, ii(/o)7, I, I, IV, IV, I, I, I, V/ii, ii, ii, V, V7, I, V...so on and so forth. See, it's like half I.

At any rate, thanks a plenty for the review. I suppose this is technically more like a... parlor waltz (the first theme, anyhow) than a hungarian dance. Ah well. I plan on including this in an orchestral suite called "Worldly Dances" with short orchestrated dances of various styles.
