This is the last movement in a haiku series set to piano and vocaloids (Miku and Luka). The series is a reflection on an observer's sudden transformation into something nonhuman as she gazes upon what she believes to be a distant star. This final setting brings all of the haikus together, although the last haiku is meant to be spoken gently over the piano ring out as the stargazer bids farewell to the human race as well as her own humanity. The repetitive ostinato and harmonies are meant to represent her growing mesmerization. I wrote both the haikus and the music in 2011.

The original series in Japanese:

Sora wo mite
Hitotsu no hoshi ga
Arawareru

Sono hikari
Kyuu ni akaruku
Kokoro sasu

Hoshi wo mite
Hoshi no kogoe ga
Boku ni iu

Mou jikan
