I imagined a young boy going out to sea on his first voyage for this piece. Theres a hint of innocence, calm, and little fear as he is on a ship with strange new people venturing away from everything he knows. He looks into the distance and can see nothing but white caps which means rough seas are ahead.

I used a flute as the lead to show the weariness and curiosity of the boy on his new adventure, along with harp for some light tempo. Strings come in later for flow of the ship in the water. The song takes a more somber turn as the boy is probably very frightened about his future life on the sea, yet there is a sense of unknown adventure (to capture this emotion I used a french horn toward the end of the song.)

Hope you enjoy this short submission for MAC13 Orchestral Audio contest! Any constructive criticism is very much appreciated!

I like this a lot. Really calm and pleasant... I saw what you described but in a montage of some sorts. I didn't see any oceany themed things, but I could definitely see everything else you described. I liked the piece and good luck in the contest! :D

Thank you, yeah i think the french horn just reminded me of more of a sea adventure, it also sounds somewhat foresty as well.
