So, this is my entry for the Christmas Mac12! I'm fairly new to recording vocals (as in, this is really my first attempt). My beautiful wife was kind enough to lend me her beautiful voice for this one :) We really rushed to get this done. Had I more time, the quality would have been higher.
Christe Redemptor Omnium (Christ Redeemer of All) is an ancient prayer from the 6th Century that the Church has used ever since. I took an old-timey carol approach for this. I picked this particular prayer, because Advent isn't just a "Hey, let's all be happy about Jesus and Santa and mostly presents" time, it's more of a "Hey, we need to be ready for the end of the world because hopefully Jesus is coming back soon and it will most likely be terrifying but awesome" time.
Lyrics:
Salvation's author, call to mind
how, taking the form of humankind,
born of a Virgin undefiled,
Thou in man's flesh became a Child.
All honor, laud, and glory be,
O Iesu, Virgin-born, to Thee;
whom with the Father we adore,
and Holy Ghost forevermore.
Thus testifies the present day
Through every year in long array,
that Thou, salvation's source alone
proceedest from the Father's Throne.
All honor, laud, and glory be,
O Iesu, Virgin-born, to Thee;
whom with the Father we adore,
and Holy Ghost forevermore.
Whence sky, and stars, and sea's abyss,
and earth, and all that therein is,
shall still, with laud and carol meet,
the Author of thine Advent greet.
And we who, by Thy precious Blood
from sin redeemed, are marked for God,
on this, the day that saw Thy Birth,
sing the new song of ransomed earth.

This reminds me of the really really old gregorian chants you'd hear sometimes. Personally, I love those and find them always so beautiful. This is a perfect companion for them.
Your wife also has a beautiful voice. If this is just a rush job though, I'd love to see what a professionally done job would be! 5 out of 5 for me!
:) Thank you! And yes, I'm a big fan of Gregorian chant myself.

Wow this is really nice! The vocals are awesome! It only has a few tiny flaws I cannot take points away for. The accompanying music is really fitting as well. Another amazing submission! Sick of them lol! The mix is awesome!
Man, thank you for the review and taking time to judge! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!

Definitely one of my favourites of the contest, and your wife has a remarkable voice. Going to check out more of your music now.
That she does - thank you for the review :) I hope you like the other stuff too!
