***UPDATE 03/12/12: One billion thanks to Megamannt92 for providing some much need help with the mixing/mastering. I can officially say it now sounds like nails on a chalkboard, as opposed to the sound of a hundred kittens being put in a blender. MUCH APPRECIATED!***

Howdy people, glad to be back!

Here's what I've been working on in the past month or two. I have been making calls over the place to contact some friends from all over town to form a studio band, and am glad to say I am more than happy of the results!

This recording here was my first experiment with this new formation, and there will most likely be a lot more from it in the future!

Unfortunately, I had this recorded at a college studio, by a guy finishing his degree, and, well long story short, he sucks. REALLY badly. which means that unfortunately, we had to record the whole thing in one go and had only one take (hence why I fuck up on the piano in the solo) and, more importantly, we lost over four tracks in the process, including the brass (which I was fortunately able to recover by playing with the hi-hat's background noise) and the piano (which is frankly not all that bad considering I fucked up pretty bad anyways).

I have sent the files to Tomppaah for mixing and mastering, but he hasn't replied in over two weeks, so I'll just upload my version for now and update the file once he does.

Any feedback on the song would be greatly appreciated, as it's my first experience doing studio recordings of my songs!

Cheers,
Samuel Hebert

I really like how the 5/4 feel works with the chord progression. Also, everybody pretty much kept perfect time throughout the song. Nice solos, too.

camoshark responds:

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed!

Very good. Kinda reminds of the backing tracks in Simcity. Very smooooooooth. Production-wise, it sounds like Neil Young was your engineer. lol

Btw the I can mix and master it for you if you want(don't judge my abilities from my posted work on here), I just got some new software and my new recordings are sounding great.

camoshark responds:

Thanks, man, I'm humbled to be compared to Simcity's OST, as I very much respect the author and the work in question!

As for the assistance proposal, let's move to PM, but I could be interested.

Cheers,
Samuel

Yes the sound is a mess, get a new guy :P But the playing is lovely, and it makes the whole thing sound like a more solid piece than the original. Sounds like a hell of a fun time to play too. Really enjoyed the last minute of it

camoshark responds:

Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed!

The sound guy is definitely checked off of our list of competent individuals, so highly unlikely we'll ever ask for his assistance.

As for the playing, all the guys came to tell me that it WAS, indeed, a hella lotta fun to play, so right you are!

In any case, thanks again for the quick response, and be sure there's more from where this came from!

Sorry to hear of the setbacks, but I liked this track overall. It's smooth. You guys should definitely make more tunes together!

camoshark responds:

Thanks, Kim, glad you enjoyed!

As for making more together, I'm hoping to have another track done Soon(TM)!
