Here we've got one of the remixes I made for the amazing free Metroid remix album; Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, organised by Shinesparkers. You must check it out:

This is the first remix I've made for Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run. It's a remix of the very conspicuous and eccentric theme of Secrets of the Chozo from Metroid II. Since the album director and assistant director, Darren Kerwin and Torbjorn 'Falcool' Brandud respectively, wanted a track that's at least over three minutes long, and the original track is pretty short with not a lot of melodic elements to work with, I had to fill this with original composition, but at the same time you'll very clearly hear that Secrets of the Chozo melody playing.

This has very weird instrumentation. It's some sort of hybrid between orchestra and techno. We've got techno sounds from z3ta+, Sytrus (made by myself), and from some free soundfonts too. We've got some orchestra sounds from East/West Symphonic Orchestra. And then there are some drum samples from Vengeance Essential House. Last but certainly not least, we have some amazing electric guitar playing by Buoy.

This is a really weird remix. I honestly don't know how or why I did it. But it's a weird remix of a weird track, so I guess that works. This track's project file is also really corrupt and weird. It wouldn't let me open the project file unless I already had another project file open, it wouldn't let me make automation clips, it'd sometimes just crash and die... I honestly don't know what got into the project file.

Thanks goes to Darren Kerwin, Torbjorn 'Falcool' Brandud, Zero-Flare, Echo, Buoy and camoshark for giving me feedback on this! Like all my other remix for this album, this one is old, having finished it back in 2011, so it is a bit lower in quality than my recent works, but hey, I hope you enjoy it regardless! Thanks for listening!

If ever make a video game (actually possible sometime) this would be great for a creepy Easter egg chamber!

Step responds:

I suppose it would!

Thanks for reviewing.

I can has secret level nao?
This perfectly conjured an image of exploring Chozo catacombs in pixel art, full of shadows and weird, orange light. Maybe you could get a major game studio to utilize your music? Dare I even say, Nintendo itself?
Ha, wow. Okay, please excuse my goofy weirdness and delusions of grandeur, as we are now returning to the realms of reality. Keep it up with the awesome music!

Step responds:

ANOTHER review! Thanks!

I did my research and asked the album director about how I should approach this, and so I went for this weirdass dark tone that the track has.

"Maybe you could get a major game studio to utilize your music? Dare I even say, Nintendo itself?"

Dreams. ;_;

Thank you again for leaving your feedback on the tracks I've worked on for Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run. It means a lot!

I like the strangeness of it all. Epic, yet high pitched leads that make it really suspenseful. Cool. :D

Step responds:

Yeah this one's a strange one haha. Not really in my best genre; I'm better at making orchestral stuff like Sanctuary, but still, I love to delve into other genres sometimes.

Thanks for leaving a comment!

It took me a couple listens to appreciate this track, but now it's one of my favorites off HoaH

Step responds:

Wow, haha. Yeah this is pretty weird track! Even in the case of the original Secrets of the Chozo theme; when I heard it first I was like "what the hell is this". However after many many listens it grew on me somehow :P.

Glad you enjoy this!

Nice creepiness factor

Step responds:

Sweet :3. Thanks!
