This started out as just me experimenting with my own voice samples. I voice acted some lines into my crappy headset mic and see if I could edit it to make it sound awesome and like it wasn't recorded from a headset :P So the demon-Alien-Robot voice in this is me!

After I had finished playing with my own voice I decided to try and make a little theme to go with it. Now, it wasn't going the way I intended... I couldn't get the sound I wanted and I couldn't get them to match with the voice :c So I tried fixing them but the fixes the became the main theme (if that makes sense). So when the track changed so much from my original idea, I became pretty unsatisfied with it and was on the verge of giving up on it. But a friend of mine kept on reassuring me to push through with it and that's what I did!

After some major changes and hard work I ended up with a Cinematic Movie Orchestral! I'm really proud of this Although it wasn't what I intended, I've always wanted to make something really cinematic! So I guess it's a good thing my idea was failing in the long run. Enjoy!

the beginning piano reminded me of the Abe lincoln vs Chuck norris from Epic rap battle from history
but anyway the beginning was powerful and made it feel epic but towards the end you lost alot of that presence in the score with the overwhelming drum samples that drowned out alot of sound
This is well written and put together but some more mixing and balancing of sound would make this even better
but over all I liked this GJ bro

Ah yeah I'd see why you'd think that :P they're played pretty similarly. And yeah that drum seems to be one of the major issues with this track, I'm going to go back and fix it a little when I have the time. Thanks for the review!

It has a really natural feeling, and i think it's really a 'laidback' song, which is great. The quote
"I've always wanted to make something really cinematic!", NEWS FLASH: you've accompleshed that.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Well thanks man! That's awesome to hear :D!

This is really good. A few small things to pick on:

-- I felt that at 0.57 the cymbal roll could have been longer, with sort of a buildup. That'd make a more emphatic announcement of transitioning from intro to the meat of the song.
-- The mood of this doesn't change much. Could use some variations. I felt you could have transitioned into an interlude of sorts at 1:53, calm things down, or maybe build some suspense, then "hit it" again and go back to powerful.
-- I actually don't think the vocals add much to the song, but I think it's fine. Now we have an orchestral song with some evil vocals!

Overall this is very enjoyable to listen to. Keep up the good work!

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Ah I love it when people touch on the small details!

-Yes hearing it now you said that I agree it needs a better cymbal roll. I'll take that into consideration for next time :P
-Yeah I wasn't really going for variation at first. But after listening to it a few time I have gotten some Ideas on making some darker sections and more grander sections.
-The vocals weren't really supposed to be anything big in the song. just a little creative touch since the song started off with just me playing with my voice :P but I do think it helps nudge it in that cinematic direction in some sense :P

Thanks for your points man! I'll definitely work on these at some point! When I have time I'll fix some transitions and possibly add a little more variation :D

I love it, especially the power that is evident with the drums, it sets this song apart from many others and I can tell you put a lot of work into composing it.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

I certainly did! Thank you! It's good it gave you that sense of power while listening :D

Haha, it's nice you added your voice, even though it can only be heard twice in the piece. Those little sparks of creativity are always nice to hear when I listen to something new. It doesn't sound unprofessional at all, and I'm really surprised it turned out that well, considering you recorded it with a headset!

I really like the composition. There's a lot of variety and the arrangement makes sense. The only thing that was a bit disturbing though, are those 'big drum' samples you used, specifically at 01:00 - 02:10. The infamous 'machine gun effect' is quite apparant here, so I suggest working with different velocity layers in the future (for all instruments, that is). True, it adds quite a bit of extra work, but the result is well worth it, and makes your production sound more natural and realistic.

The mix in general is decent enough. The only 'problem' I could find was with, again, the 'big drum' samples. Cutting the higher frequencies here might have been a good idea, as they tend to sound a bit too sharp compared to the other instruments.

All in all, a very well written piece! I'm quite curious to see what future productions you'll bring us.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Thank you for the review! I'm happy when people can take the time to analyse and give me helpful feedback on my music. It really helps :D

It's nice to see I'm getting so good feedback from the voice. Since I haven't done anything like it before or used them in an actual piece, I didn't know how people would react. But it's nice to know it turned out well!

Haha I did play around with the velocity a lot with this one and that big drum sample is the thing I had the biggest problem with! There was a certain point in the velocity where if it was one point higher the in pact sound would be too loud. If it was a point lower it would just have a weak boom with no impact (it would remove the inpact hit completely). Looking back I could have tried filtering that sample alone. I also tried play some sequences on my MIDI keyboard before quantizing them to try and get that natural effect. It's good because it pick up the velocity in which I press the keys but I guess it wasn't so apparent this time... I'll be sure pattern out the velocity more carefully next time so they have a bigger impact :D

Again thanks for your overview! I really appreciate it :D
