For Bosa's "Quest for the Crown" contest. I ended up placing 6th. WHOMP WHOMP.

So full of mood swings...this is certainly the most dynamic piece I've ever written. The orchestration is also the largest I've ever done. Both are aspects of me pushing myself. What I think stays true to who I am is the waltz structure and the melodies and tones overall. I think I've got a good balance of new stuff versus old stuff.

Very decent song, awesome instrument choices. But in my opinion, there were too many mood swings. I couldn't get it into the atmosphere of the song. But other than that, it is really decent. ^_^

Good song, could definitely be used in a game with great results.
I like the way you composed a song for a specific contest while staying real to your own essence, this has your name all over it.

This has really good ingredients... but somewhat feels like a demo reel. It feels like you threw 17 different things that would be good on a salad into a salad... and ended up making kind of a weird salad. I mean, it isn't bad by any means, but I just felt that each of those segments never went on long enough for me to hold onto it and enjoy.

I think that, when fleshed out properly, you can get several very good standalone pieces out of the ideas used in this. Right now it actually felt somewhat wasted.

ZipZipper responds:

I agree. All the parts are a bit disconnected. I was trying something different by covering many themes in very short periods of time. So yeah...it is a demo reel, but in one song with one set instrumentation. It was actually quite challenging. I tried to put everything I know into one piece without dragging it on, because we all know how to drag on.

If you want something to hold onto and enjoy, listen to my other music yah? :(

Great work here! A large amalgamation of various elements and styles into something that sounds like a mix of an orchestra and a carnival band with a toss of "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas" in there for good measure. I enjoy your command of the waltz style here through a broad range of styles into jazz.

My main wish was that the muted trumpet in the start was more of an accordion sound, more befitting of the feel I would think. I found your orchestration interesting although wild... it has the 'rambling' feel of cinematic music due to the constant shifts. Mastering was very nice and all the sounds at least sounded quality and mixed cleanly.

I have not seen any of your work before, and I am glad to have seen a quality piece such as this first... I wish you best of luck in the contest and with all your other works, if I have time I may check more of them out!

Keep compos(ed/ing)!

It`s been so long since I`ve heard something so... good from this genre. I friggin love your style in this! The merryfull time signature made it way into my heart! again, freaking love it! =D. And yeah I agree with ALECXACE, it has some final fantasy flavor on it. Mine`s to go! xD.
