After coming back to the Newgrounds Audio community and listening to a lot of my old favorites (ParagonX9 being one of my bigger inspirations), I've decided to try and pursue drum and bass for a while to see where it takes me. Hopefully I'll learn some valuable things as I make more DnB.

I find it very hard to make a lengthy DnB track without it being repetitive, plus I just plain suck at making any kind of melody. That's why this track is only a couple of minutes long. I might make a looped version if some people demand it. This track would be very easy to loop.

Anyway, I generally like to make an intro of some kind for all my songs, rather than start with a beat. I know a lot of DnB and Trance tends to start with a simple beat that progresses in to something more complex, but I've always liked doing that with synths and whatnot. Hopefully I did a decent enough job of it with this track.

Interesting choice of instruments and melodies you use in the song. I think that drums could be turned down slightly when they go really fast. The structure of the song is pretty neat though. The chorus (really fast and full sounding drum part XD) is good, but it could use a little more variety, it sounds a little repetitive. To fix this, try adding some more melodies that change in the background! Or keep adding instruments to build up on it more. The song is pretty good though :D I enjoyed it while i listened to it :D

Also, it'd be great if you could check out my original song "Stranded" and give feedback!

Nubblecakes responds:

Hey thanks for the feedback. You make some good points. There's a bit of distortion, though it's subtle. Turning the drums down a bit will probably help a lot.

I definitely want to try and work on the melody a bit more so it's got some variation. It's just I literally don't know how to play any insturments, nor do I have any music theory, so constructing a legitimate melody is nearly impossible for me. I'll maybe accidentally make a decent melody once in a blue moon, and that's where most of my songs come from.

Anyway, I'll definitely return the favor and check out your track. Thanks for reviewing.
